ANOTHER SOUTHEAST MISSOURI SCHOOL ADJUSTS BUS ROUTES TO SAVE MONEY

Bloomfield’s School District recently announced that due to reduced transportation funding, they will no longer be providing bus service to students who live within a mile of the school. Now, Bernie Schools are making adjustments to their bus service in order to save money. Bernie School Superintendent John Boyd says that starting with the upcoming school year, Bernie school busses will only be picking up students at one stop on each block, rather than stopping at individual homes. He says because of the new schedule, students are being asked to be at their bus stops 10 to 15 minutes earlier than they were last year. Boyd says that because of funding cuts at the state level, the schools are being force to look at ways to run their bus routes as efficiently as possible. Parents and guardians of Bernie students who have questions about the new routes can call L.C. Mason at 293-5333.
