OFFICER INJURED WHILE CHASING MAN WITH GUN
A police officer in Steele received minor injuries yesterday, while chasing and arresting a man with a gun.
According to authorities, Sergeant Randy Trimm responded to a call of shots being fired. When he arrived, the man suspected of firing the shots ran. The officer chased the suspect on foot for several blocks. Trimm was the only Steele officer on duty at the time, but received assistance in taking the suspect into custody by off-duty officer Casey Greene and a Steele volunteer fireman.
Members of the Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Department helped process the scene and were able to recover a semi-automatic handgun that the suspect alledgedly threw down during the chase.
The suspect’s name is being withheld at this time. He faces charges of felon in possession of a handgun, armed criminal action, resisting arrest, and assault on a law enforcement officer.
