NEW SUSPECT ARRESTED IN HOME INVASION
A new suspect has been arrested in a Friday home invasion case. Poplar Bluff Police took 50 year old Steve Dover into custody Monday afternoon. He faces charges of first degree robbery, first degree burglary, and resisting arrest.
Around 1 am Friday, police received a 911 call about an intruder who had broken the door to an apartment down and physically assaulted one of the women who lived in the home. A second woman stuck the intruder with a railroad spike. When authorities arrived, they followed a trail of blood to another apartment in the same building. They knocked several times, and after receiving no response, kicked in the door. They found two men, 45 year old Glen R. Walkman and 46 year old Claude Everett Hunt in the living room. After a struggle, both men were arrested.
Continuing investigation of the case revealed that Dover had alledgedly committed the break-in and left the apartment before police arrived. At the time of his arrest, Dover had an injury to his head, that he told police had happened when the woman had hit him with a railroad spike, however he denied breaking into the home.
Walkman, who had originally been charged in the incident, has been released.
