MINOR KILLED IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS WRECK

One person has died following a wreck Tuesday in Northeast Arkansas.

According to the Arkansas State Police, a vehicle was travelling west on Clay County Road 406 at around 1:30 pm when the vehicle lost control and travelled into the path of an oncoming vehicle.

A passenger in the first vehicle was killed in the wreck. The drivers of both vehicles as well as a passenger in each vehicle were injured and transported to a Paragould hospital. 


MASS VACCINATION CLINIC SCHEDULED FOR FRIDAY IN CARUTHERSVILLE

A Covid-19 Mass Vaccination Clinic is scheduled for tomorrow in Pemiscot County.

According to the Pemiscot County Health Center, the clinic will be from 9 am to 4 pm on Friday at Century Casino in Caruthersville.

SPECIAL MEETING OF THE POPLAR BLUFF CITY COUNCIL SCHEDULED FOR THIS AFTERNOON

The Poplar Bluff city council will be holding a special meeting this afternoon to discuss firefighter grants.

On the agenda for the meeting are two different resolutions authorizing the Poplar Bluff Fire Department to apply for grants through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

One resolution is for the purchase of rescue equipment, while the second is for the purchase of a ladder fire truck. 

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 1 pm this afternoon in the City Council chambers on 5th street. 

 

ONE SERIOUSLY INJURED IN STODDARD COUNTY WRECK 

Two people were injured in a wreck Wednesday morning in Stoddard County.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell us that the crash occurred at around 7 am when a vehicle crossed the center of Route Y and struck another vehicle.

The driver of the 2nd vehicle, 37 year old David Roskin, of Olivette, Missouri, received serious injuries in the wreck and was transported to a Cape Girardeau hospital.

The driver of the 1st vehicle suffered minor injuries. 

 

MAN ARRESTED ON COCAINE AND HEROIN CHARGES IN NEW MADRID COUNTY

A Minnesota man is facing multiple drug related charges following his arrest in New Madrid County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 27 year old Patrick Burton, of St. Paul, Minnesota, was arrested Wednesday afternoon on charges of possession of a controlled substance for cocaine, heroin, and psychedelic mushrooms.

Burton is also facing charges of possession of marijuana less than 10 grams and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. 

 

MASKS NOW REQUIRED AT OZARK NATIONAL SCENIC RIVERWAYS

Masks will now be required at many Ozark National Scenic Riverways Locations.

According to the National Park Service, face masks are now required in all park buildings and facilities, including the Headquarters Visitor Information Center in Van Buren.

Masks are also required on NPS-managed lands when physical distancing cannot be maintained, including narrow or busy trails and overlooks.

The new requirements come after President Joe Biden’s Executive Order on Protecting the Federal Workforce and Requiring Mask-Wearing.
