MULTIPLE DRUGS FOUND IN KENNETT HOTEL ROOM
Officials in Kennett recently discovered multiple drugs in an area hotel room.
According to authorities, ecstasy, mushrooms, prescription medication, and over three pounds of methamphetamine were discovered in the hotel room.
65 year old Terry O’Neil, of Kennett, was arrested and is facing charges including 1st degree trafficking drugs and delivery of a controlled substance.
His bond was set at $125,000.
MAN SENTENCED TO 9 YEARS IN PRISON AFTER PLEADING GUILTY TO DRUG CHARGE
A Poplar Bluff man is facing almost a decade in prison after pleading guilty to a drug charge.
According to Missouri Case Net, Ronnie Allen Jr. pled guilty on Thursday to charges of possession of a controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana, assault – 2nd degree, and kidnapping 2nd degree.
The charges stem from incidents in 2019.
Allen was sentenced to nine years in prison on the controlled substance charge and seven years each on the kidnapping and assault charges. The sentences are to run concurrently.
TWO ARRESTED IN BUTLER COUNTY ON METH CHARGES
Two people were taken into custody Thursday afternoon in Butler County on methamphetamine related charges.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 33 year old Amanda Dickson, of East Prairie, and 29 year old Ashley Combs, of Springfield, were both arrested at approximately 4:30 pm Thursday on charges of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine and tampering with a motor vehicle.
Combs is also facing a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance at a county correctional facility.
Officials say that both women were held at the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.
TWO ARRESTED AFTER GUN AND METHAMPHETAMINE FOUND IN WAYNE COUNTY RESIDENCE
A search warrant led to the arrest of two people this week in Wayne County.
According to Wayne County Sheriff Dean Finch, deputies served a search warrant on Tuesday at the residence of Linda Schlater.
Officials reportedly found a firearm, methamphetamine, marijuana, pills, and drug paraphernalia inside the residence. Both Schlater and Timothy Daggs were taken into custody and booked into the Wayne County Jail.
MISSOURI HOUSE ADVANCES BILL ON MAKING DAYLIGHT SAVING PERMANENT
The Missouri House has advanced a bill that would make daylight saving time permanent.
The House gave the proposal initial approval in a voice vote earlier this week.
According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, 15 states have adopted similar provisions, however federal law prevents states from moving to daylight saving time permanently.
The Missouri bill would only take effect if Congress changes federal law.
176 TRAFFIC FATALITIES REPORTED IN MISSOURI DURING FIRST QUARTER OF 2021
Missouri Transportation officials are warning residents about reckless driving.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, during the first quarter of the year, there were 176 fatalities in Missouri as a result of traffic crashes.
Though down slightly from the first quarter of 2020, officials remain concerned increases in speed observed during the early stages of the pandemic have carried over into 2021.
Preliminary reporting indicates excessive speed played a role in nearly one-third of the traffic deaths so far this year. In a recent work zone, law enforcement officers issued 79 citations including several drivers traveling over 100 mph within just a few hours.
The number of fatalities under the age of 21 has increased by 58% during the first quarter. Likewise, 19 pedestrians have been killed so far in Missouri traffic crashes.
