CHANCE OF SEVERE WEATHER TODAY IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

There is a chance of severe weather today across Southeast Missouri.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, the main severe weather event is expected to move into the area late this evening and progress eastward across the area overnight.

Many of our more northern and western communities are under an enhanced risk of severe weather as a part of this system.

There will be primarily a damaging wind threat today, however officials say that a few tornadoes will also be possible.

WAYNE COUNTY VOTERS TO SEE TAX ISSUES ON TOMORROW’S BALLOT

Voters in Wayne County could see multiple tax related issues on tomorrow's ballot.

Wayne County residents will decide if the county should extend a current countywide sales tax of one half of one percent for another period of six years and continue a one hundred percent reduction of general revenue property tax.

The city of Piedmont is asking its citizens about a waterworks and sewerage system bond as well as a possible sales tax on marijuana sales.

In Stoddard County, there is also a waterworks and sewerage system bond up for a vote in Dexter. The Puxico School District is proposing an operating tax levy increase to add funding for facilities and staff.

LADY RAIDERS ELIMINATED IN QUARTERFINALS OF NJCAA TOURNAMENT

The Three Rivers College Lady Raiders excellent basketball season has come to an end.

The 11 seed Lady Raiders fell to three seed Northwest Florida State College, 69-54 Friday night in the quarterfinals of the NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball Championship in Casper, Wyoming.

TRC finishes the season with a 29-5 record.

ONE FLOWN FROM THE SCENE OF A SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH IN BUTLER COUNTY

Two people were injured, one seriously, in a Saturday night crash.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that the crash occurred when a vehicle ran off the side of Route PP in Butler County and struck a tree.

A passenger in the vehicle, 48 year old Paul Bourbon, of Ellsinore, was flown to a Memphis hospital with serious injuries.

The driver, 40 year old Heather Pace, of Poplar Bluff, had moderate injuries and was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital.

MOTORCYCLE RIDER SERIOUSLY INJURED AFTER HITTING ANIMAL IN WAYNE COUNTY

A motorcycle rider was injured in a crash over the weekend in Wayne County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 31 year old Kiefer Ledbetter, of Piedmont, was riding a motorcycle on Missouri Highway 34 when he struck an animal in the roadway.

Officials say the wreck occurred shortly after 1 am Saturday.

Ledbetter was seriously injured in the crash and taken by ambulance to a Poplar Bluff hospital.

SHOULDER WORK UNDERWAY ON ROUTE U IN NEW MADRID COUNTY

Route U in New Madrid County will be reduced to one lane through the middle of this week as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform shoulder work. 

The work zone is located from Route D to U.S. Highway 61 near New Madrid.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily through Thursday.
