13 YEAR OLD CARAWAY BOY KILLED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK

A Caraway teenager was killed yesterday in a motorcycle crash in Craighead County.

According to the Arkansas State Police, the thirteen year old boy was driving a motorcycle when he lost control and overturned. He was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

RAFTER DIES IN CARTER COUNTY

An Illinois man is dead following an incident Friday afternoon in Carter County.

52 year old Christopher M. Retzloff, of Harrisburg, Illinois, was reportedly on Current River when he was knocked off of his raft by a tree branch and drowned. He was later pronounced dead at an area funeral home.

TWO VEHICLE WRECK RESULTS IN FIVE INJURIES, ONE DEATH

A collision Sunday afternoon resulted in the death of one person, and injuries to five others.

The wreck occurred on Highway 25 in Dunklin County, around a half mile south of Holcomb. According to the Highway Patrol, 20 year old Stephanie D. Newsom, of Kennett, reportedly crossed the center line and hit another vehicle.

Newsom was killed in the collision. The driver and a passenger in the second vehicle suffered serious injuries, as did three children in Newsom’s vehicle.

LITTERING LEADS TO DRUG ARREST IN JONESBORO

A Jonesboro man’s littering has led to his arrest on drug charges.

Authorities say a Jonesboro officer pulled over a driver after witnessing him throwing a plastic bag of marijuana from his vehicle. A search of the driver, 26 year old Brashawn Torris Henry, of Jonesboro, and the vehicle revealed approximately two pounds of marijuana.

Henry has been charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and littering.

MARIJUANA BY MAIL LEADS TO ARREST OF CHARLESTON WOMAN

A Charleston woman has been arrested after being accused of receiving 19 pounds of marijuana through the US Mail.

Authorities say 34 year old Pamela Foster has been charged with distribution of a controlled substance. Investigators say they were contacted early last week by the SEMO Drug Task Force about the shipment and that they then conducted a search of Foster’s home.

Two children in the home were turned over to the Division of Family Services.

PUXICO RESIDENT FACING DRUG CHARGES

A Puxico resident is facing drug charges.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 29 year old Tina S. Womack was taken into custody in Stoddard County at around 9:30 pm Saturday night.

Charges for Womack include driving while intoxicated, drugs; felony possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine; and felony possession of drug paraphernalia.

TWO MISSISSIPPI MEN ARRESTED IN NEW MADRID COUNTY ON FELONY DRUG CHARGES

Two Mississippi men are facing felony charges following their arrest over the weekend in New Madrid County.

According to the Highway Patrol, 51 year old Dwayne E. Rodgers and 41 year old Dwan L. Jackson, both of Durant, Mississippi, were taken into custody shortly after 9 pm Sunday night.

Rodgers is reportedly facing felony possession of a controlled substance charges, along with felony possession with intent to distribute charges for heroin and cocaine.

Jackson has been charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and felony possession with intent to deliver, however a specific drug was not listed in the arrest report.

FIRE TRUCK DONATED TO THREE RIVERS COLLEGE

Three Rivers College has received a new training device courtesy of the Butler County Fire Protection District.

The college’s fire science program has received a fire truck from the district. According to Jack Armor, Fire Training Coordinator at Three Rivers, the truck donation will greatly increase Three Rivers’ flexibility in performing firefighting training at all levels.

REPAIRS TODAY ON HIGHWAY 60 IN BUTLER COUNTY

Highway 60 in Butler County will be reduced to one lane today for pavement repairs.

Eastbound Highway 60 will be reduced from 7 am to 4:30 pm for the repairs. The work zone will be located between Route T and Route DD.

MODOT CREWS TO BE IN CARTER COUNTY THIS WEEK

Route P in Carter County will be reduced to one lane this week while Missouri Department of Transportation crews partially overlay the roadway.

The section of Route P to be reduced is located from US Highway 60 to the end of state maintenance.

Weather permitting, work will take place today through Thursday, from 7 am to 4:30 pm daily.

PAVEMENT REPAIRS SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEK IN WAYNE COUNTY

Pavement repairs have been scheduled for this week in Wayne County.

Highway 143 will be reduced to one lane between Sam A. Baker State Park and the Des Arc City limits through Wednesday for the repairs. Work is scheduled to be done from 7 am to 5 pm daily.

PAVEMENT REPAIRS TODAY IN STODDARD COUNTY

Crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation will be in Stoddard County today for pavement repairs on Route M.

During the repairs, Route M will be reduced to one lane from 7 am to 4 pm. The work zone will be located between Highway 25 and Route PP.

NEW MISSOURI LAW PROMPTS CHANGE IN AMAZON.COM POLICY

Online retailer Amazon is severing ties with its online associates in Missouri because of a new state sales tax law.

Amazon Associates are people who write blogs or product reviews and then link to Amazon.com. They collect commissions if people use their link to buy at Amazon.

The Kansas City Star reports that Amazon blames its decision to sever ties with its Missouri associates on a new Missouri law that takes effect this month subjecting those transactions to sales taxes. The retailer says it will no longer pay advertising fees for customers referred to an Amazon site after August 27th.
