BODY OF JONESBORO WOMAN RECOVERED IN BAXTER COUNTY LAKE
Authorities in Baxter County, Arkansas have recovered the body of a Jonesboro woman from Lake Norfolk.
According to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Department, the body of 45 year old Penny Jane Hellums was found early Sunday morning in approximately 30 feet of water.
A man told authorities that Hellums had jumped out of a Pontoon while it was still moving and when she got distressed the man jumped in after her but was unable to save her.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
SHOTS FIRED INTO HOME IN CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY
An investigation is ongoing in Cape Girardeau County after shots were reportedly fired into a home near Millersville.
The residence had children playing inside at the time of the incident. According to the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Department, one person was taken into custody for unlawful use of a weapon; however the incident does not appear to have been an intentional act.
MAN FACING CHARGES FOR ALLEGEDLY BRINGING DRUGS TO COURT APPEARANCE
A judge has set bond at $1,500 for a man accused of bringing methamphetamine and digital scales to a Jonesboro court appearance.
District Judge Curt Huckaby ruled on Thursday that there was enough evidence to bring 21-year-old Aaron Clark to trial on felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia charges.
The Jonesboro Sun reports that Clark had a Wednesday court appearance on an unrelated charge. When he was taken into custody, he was ordered to put his belongings into a plastic bag for safe keeping.
Officials say that Clark included the alleged methamphetamine and digital scales among his effects.
Clark claims the drugs weren't his.
MAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY ATTEMPTING TO FLEE AND THEN BITING OFFICER
A Cape Girardeau man is facing assault charges for allegedly biting a police officer during his arrest.
33 year old Joshua Dannenmueller has been charged with assault of a law enforcement officer, careless and imprudent driving, and failure to obey a traffic control device.
According to Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter, Dannenmueller refused to stop when authorities tried to pull him over.
The pursuit went through Scott City to Cape Girardeau where Dannenmueller was eventually stopped. During his arrest, Dannenmueller allegedly bit a deputy.
QULIN MAN FACING METH CHARGES OUT OF SCOTT COUNTY
A Qulin man was arrested on Friday in Scott County on multiple drug charges.
40 year old Tammy R. Tanner has been charged with 3 counts of possession of a controlled substance for methamphetamine, Hydrocodone and Xanax, according to the Highway Patrol.
Tanner is also facing an additional charge of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
TWO ARRESTED ON METH CHARES IN NEW MADRID COUNTY
Two men were taken into custody Sunday evening in New Madrid County on methamphetamine charges.
According to the Highway Patrol, 35 year old Gary J. Bratton, of Williamsville, and 37 year old Robert A. Marler, of Matthews, are each facing felony charges of possession of a controlled substance methamphetamine and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
The two men were arrested Sunday evening just before 7 pm.
ASSAULT CALL LEADS TO DRUG ARREST IN SCOTT COUNTY
Authorities reportedly found narcotics while responding to an assault call on Sunday.
According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, 54 year old Robert Kallbreier, of Sikeston, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, second degree domestic assault, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Authorities reportedly found an unspecified amount of narcotics, drug paraphernalia, money, and a handgun during a search of a residence on Sunday.
TWO ARNOLD RESIDENTS ARRESTED IN WAYNE COUNTY ON METH CHARGES
Two Arnold residents spent part of their Labor Day weekend in custody following their arrest on methamphetamine charges.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 52 year old Gene Killian was arrested in Wayne County at around noon on Saturday. A little over an hour later, 30 year old Erica A. Killian was arrested as well.
They are each facing felony charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, methamphetamine; attempt to manufacture methamphetamine; possession of methamphetamine precursor drugs; possession of a controlled substance hydrocodone and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
TECHNOLOGY GRANT AWARDED TO AREA LIBRARY
A technology grant for over $8000 has been awarded to an area library.
Secretary of State Jason Kander says the grant will go to the Doniphan-Ripley County Library to replace six computers.
Three of the computers will have widescreen monitors to assist patrons with visual impairments and the library district will also purchase five large print keyboards to be used with the new computers.
HIGHWAY 67 TO BE REDUCED TODAY IN BUTLER COUNTY
A Butler County highway will be reduced to one lane today for pavement repairs.
Southbound Highway 67 will be reduced to one lane about one mile north of Highway 60 west. Work is scheduled to take place today from 6:30 am to 5 pm.
CARTER COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED OVER THE NEXT WEEK FOR PIPE REPLACEMENT
Crews will be closing a Carter County road over the next week to replace a pipe beneath the roadway.
Highway 21 in Carter County will be closed from 10 pm to 6 am daily through Tuesday, September 10th for the replacement. The highway will be closed from Route K to Route B.
INTERSTATE 55 REPAIRS SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEK IN SCOTT COUNTY
Southbound Interstate 55 in Scott County will be reduced to one lane this week so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can perform bridge repairs.
The bridge to be repaired is located is located over Highway 62 at Miner.
Weather permitting, work will performed today through Thursday from 7:30 am to 4 pm daily.
