SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK CLAIMS LIFE OF SIKESTON WOMAN
A single vehicle wreck early Friday morning claimed the life of a Sikeston woman.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred on County Road 450 in Scott County. A vehicle driven by 26 year old Laurajo McDowell left the road and hit an embankment before striking a tree.
McDowell was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
JONESBORO MAN KILLED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK
A Jonesboro man has died following a single vehicle wreck Saturday in Craighead County.
According to the Arkansas State Police, 38 year old Chad B. Davison was killed in the wreck Saturday afternoon. Davison’s vehicle reportedly become airborne after striking a concrete curb and came to rest in the bottom of a ditch.
IDENTITY RELEASED OF WOMAN KILLED IN HOUSE FIRE
The identity of a woman killed in a house fire last week in Jackson has been released.
According to authorities, 68 year old Emma Sue Wright died in the fire Thursday morning on Westvale Drive. Wright was the only one of five people who was unable to escape the house.
POPLAR BLUFF MAN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION TO ARMED ROBBERY
Police in Poplar Bluff have taken a man into custody in connection to an armed robbery.
According to KFVS, 27 year old Ryan Aaron McVaugh is a person of interest in an armed robbery that allegedly took place on January 23rd.
McVaugh was arrested Friday night.
NINE ARRESTED AS A PART OF BERNIE DRUG INVESTIGATION
Bernie Police say nine people have been taken into custody as a result of an undercover narcotics investigation.
Authorities say that five of the people were arrested at a residence following the execution of a search warrant last week. During the search, officers found and seized numerous items used in the distribution of illegal narcotics, including methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and cash.
The four other arrests were made with the assistance of the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Office and the Dexter Police Department. Authorities say that the investigation is continuing and more arrests are expected.
Those arrested include:
24 year old Tiffany Lynn Hayes, of Bernie, is charged with the Class C Felony of Possession of a Controlled Substance.
21 year old Kassandra D. Cavaness, of Bernie, is charged with the Class C Felony of Possession of a controlled substance.
19 year old Vontesha Monique Gray, of Bernie, is charged with the Class C Felony of Possession of a controlled substance.
19 year old Charles Seth Walters, of Bernie, is charged with the Class C Felony of Possession of a controlled substance.
25 year old Tylor D. Williams, of Bernie, is charged with the Class C Felony of Possession of a controlled substance.
21 year old Luster Jordan, of Malden, is charged with the Class B Felony of Distribution of a controlled substance.
30 year old Jameak Steven Townsend, of Malden, is charged with the Class B Felony of Distribution of a controlled substance.
31 year old Kelly Demont Carter, of Malden, is charged with the Class B Felony of Distribution of a controlled substance.
27 year old Marquan Dev Arsha Townsend, of Malden, is charged with the Class B Felony of Distribution of a controlled substance.
MAN ARRESTED ON SEVERAL CHARGES INCLUDING SEXUAL ASSAULT AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
A search of a home in Northeast Arkansas on Friday led to the arrest of a man on multiple sex related charges.
According to KAIT, 48 year old Morris Hudson Cline Jr. was arrested on charges including computer child pornography, transportation of a minor for prohibited sexual conduct, and six counts of first degree sexual assault.
Officers with the Pocahontas Police Department and Randolph County Sheriff’s Department reportedly found a laptop that had underage sexual material on it during the search.
POPLAR BLUFF WOMAN FACING METH CHARGE
A Poplar Bluff woman is facing a felony meth charge following her arrest over the weekend.
According to the Highway Patrol, 42 year old Jean E. Sherfield is facing felony charges of possession of methamphetamine and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
Sherfield was arrested shortly before 2 am Saturday.
HOLCOMB MAN ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE DRUG CHARGES
A Holcomb man is in custody on multiple drug charges.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 63 year old Henry S. Muse was arrested Saturday morning.
Muse is facing felony charges of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine; possession of a controlled substance, morphine; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
SHOTS FIRED AT ARENA BUILDING IN CAPE GIRARDEAU
Cape Girardeau Police are investigating multiple reports of shots being fired Saturday night and Sunday morning.
According to the Cape Girardeau Police Department, at around 10:20 pm Saturday night, officers were on scene at the Arena building on Kiwanis Drive, and heard shots fired coming from inside the building.
Several people began fleeing from the building and one victim was transported to a local hospital with a gun-shot wound to the chest. At around 10:45 pm officers heard more shots being fired from north of the building, however no victims were located.
At around 11:10 pm, officers were dispatched to a local hospital where a subject had walked into the Emergency Room with a gun-shot wound to his leg. The victim stated that he was shot while at the Arena building.
At around midnight that night, officers patrolling downtown reported hearing gunshots, as well. A little over an hour later, a woman entered the police department saying that her vehicle had been shot multiple times. No one was injured.
The incidents are under investigation.
SIKESTON MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO DISCHARGING A FIREARM AT A VEHICLE
A Sikeston man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison as a part of a plea deal.
According to the Sikeston Department of Public Safety, 49 year old Rone Edward Bratcher pled guilty last week to discharging a firearm at a vehicle.
The plea deal is in reference to an incident in October where Bratcher allegedly attempted to shoot another man.
MAN ACQUITTED OF THREE COUNTS OF 1ST DEGREE SEXUAL ASSAULT
A man has been found not guilty of sexual assault charges in Northeast Arkansas.
27 year old Corey Ray Weatherford was acquitted on Friday on three counts of first degree sexual assault.
Weatherford has been taken into custody in 2012.
POPLAR BLUFF CHAMBER WARNING OF COUNTERFEIT $100 BILLS
The Greater Poplar Bluff Area Chamber of Commerce is warning area businesses of possible counterfeit $100 bills.
A member of the chamber reportedly received a five dollar bill that had been bleached and reprinted as a $100 bill.
