ONE ARRESTED IN PARAGOULD SHOOTING
One person has been arrested in connection to a shooting incident Monday in Paragould.
According to the Paragould Police Department, 22 year old Ivey A. Herren was arrested on a charge of battery 1st.
The victim, Alex Wells, was taken to an area hospital for medical treatment. The full extent of the victim’s injuries was not released.
NO ONE INJURED AFTER TRAIN HITS SEMI TRAILER IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS
No injuries were reported after a train hit a semi trailer early Wednesday morning.
According to authorities, the incident occurred on Main Street in Walnut Ridge at 3:41 am Wednesday. The semi was stopped at a traffic light and had its trailer across the railroad tracks when the train hit it.
OXLY MAN FACING DRUG CHARGES
Authorities arrested an Oxly man Wednesday evening in Butler County on drug charges.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 31 year old Jeffery S. Winter was taken into custody shortly after 5:30 pm Wednesday.
Winter is facing felony charges of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance – alprazolam.
CAPE GIRARDEAU MAN ARRESTED ON FELONY COCAINE CHARGE
A Cape Girardeau man is facing a felony drug charge following his arrest Tuesday night.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 33 year old Deshone S. Bailey was taken into custody on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance - cocaine.
POPLAR BLUFF SCHOOLS TO DISMISS NEXT WEEK FOR SPRING BREAK
Poplar Bluff Superintendent Chris Hon tells us that Spring Break is still scheduled for next week.
Poplar Bluff R-1 Schools will be dismissed from March 10th to March 14th for spring break.
Hon also said that the inclement weather has caused a slight shift in the school schedule, with the 3rd quarter now ending on Friday, March 21st instead of March 7th.
WOMAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTING SOMEONE WITH A CINDER BLOCK
Police in Cape Girardeau have taken an area woman into custody after she allegedly hit someone with a cinder block on Tuesday.
According to KFVS, 49 year old Barbara Pinkston, of Cape Girardeau, is facing a charge of domestic assault.
She had reportedly been involved in a fight with a man when she grabbed a concrete cinder block and hit him in the back of the head.
The man was taken to an area hospital.
DEADLINE EXTENDED TO APPLY FOR THREE RIVERS RN PROGRAM
The deadline for prospective students to get in their application for Three Rivers College’s Department of Nursing and Allied Health Registered Nurse program has been extended.
The deadline has been pushed back to March 17th at 5 pm. All admissions materials, including official copies of transcripts from high school and other colleges, must be received by the March 17th deadline.

MISSOURI REVENUES UP SLIGHTLY
A new report shows Missouri revenues were up slightly as the state reached the two-thirds mark of its budget year.
State figures released Tuesday show that Missouri's net general revenues had risen 2 percent through February compared with the same point the previous fiscal year.
Sales taxes were up by more than 4 percent and individual income taxes were up 2.5 percent. But those gains were partially offset by a growth in tax refunds.
The 2 percent overall revenue growth matches the forecast embraced by the Republican-led Legislature but is slightly less than what Democratic Governor Jay Nixon's administration projected.
Missouri's 2014 budget year began last July and runs through June 30th .
CHANGES TO TAX CREDITS GIVEN INITIAL APPROVAL BY MISSOURI HOUSE
Missouri House members have endorsed legislation that would create several new business incentives while limiting some existing tax breaks for developers.
The bill given initial approval Wednesday creates tax breaks for computer data centers, firms that ship international cargo through Missouri airports and investors in new high-tech businesses.
It also lowers the amount of annual tax credits that can be authorized for developers of low-income housing and historic buildings.
The measure needs another House vote to go to the Senate, where its prospects are uncertain.
Lawmakers in the two chambers have been at odds for several years about the need to curb tax credits for housing and building developers. Some senators generally have pushed for lower limits than House members favor and resisted efforts to create new business tax credits.
MISSOURI HOUSE GIVEN FIRST ROUND APPROVAL ON BILL REQUIRING 72 HOUR WAITING PERIOD BEFORE AN ABORTION
The Missouri House has endorsed legislation that would make a woman seeking an abortion wait 72 hours after seeing a doctor before the procedure could be performed.
Missouri's current waiting period is 24 hours. Only two states now mandate a three-day wait.
The House gave the bill first-round approval Wednesday on a 115-37 vote. A second House vote would move it to the Senate, which began debating its own version Wednesday evening.
Republicans support the bill and argue that women need more time to make such an important decision. Democrats object and say it placed more restrictions on abortion rights.
The House legislation would also require Missouri officials to develop a video about the procedure to include in a packet of information given to women seeking abortions.
