SEARCH WARRANT AT POPLAR BLUFF RESIDENCE LEADS TO ARREST OF SIX
A search of a Poplar Bluff residence has led to the arrest of six people.
According to Captain David Sutton with the Poplar Bluff Police Department, a narcotics search warrant was executed by Poplar Bluff officers and the SEMO Drug Task Force last week at a home on Lester Street.
29 year old Mark Hicks Jr., of Poplar Bluff, 49 year old Michael Schalk, of Poplar; and 36 year old Jason Webb, of Raymore were arrested on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.
30 year old Matthew Holmes, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia, felon in possession of a firearm; and receiving stolen property.
24 year old Meghan Turner, of Poplar Bluff, faces charges of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
And 32 year old Todd Aikey, of Poplar Bluff, was taken into custody on an outstanding Butler County warrant for illegally taking wildlife.
SIKESTON FATAL SHOOTING SUSPECT TURNS HIMSELF IN TO POLICE
A man who was a suspect in a fatal shooting over the weekend has turned himself into authorities in Sikeston.
According to the Sikeston Department of Public Safety, Craig “Pico” Marks has been charged with first degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon.
The arrest stems from an early Sunday morning shooting incident. Police received a call at around 3:15 am that someone had been shot. Upon arrival, officers found 22 year old Tyrell Banks, of Haywood City, Missouri with a gunshot wound to the chest. He died later in the day.
An investigation revealed the shooting had taken place at a home on Lanning Street. Investigators found eight bullet holes in the home.
Witnesses told police that Banks and Marks had been in an ongoing dispute.
HOME EXPLOSION KILLS TWO IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS
A third home explosion in recent months in Northeast Arkansas has killed two people.
According to authorities, the incident happened Saturday afternoon in Monette. In addition to the two deaths, three people were injured.
Craighead County Sheriff Marty Boyd says at this time, investigators have no reason to believe any criminal activity was involved.
A cause of the explosion is under investigation.
FOUL PLAY SUSPECTED IN CASE OF BODY FOUND NEAR MARKED TREE
An investigation is ongoing in regards to a body found near Marked Tree, Arkansas.
According to the Poinsett County Sheriff’s Department, a call was received Saturday evening about a vehicle on fire. Upon arrival on the scene, officers discovered a body.
Sheriff Larry Mills says it is unclear at this point if the body is that of a man or a woman.
He says foul play is suspected.
Authorities are looking for more than one suspect in the case, however he was unable to release their names at this time.
SHOOTING AT LILBOURN CLUB LEAVES SEVERAL INJURED
A shooting at a Lilbourn nightclub has left several people with injuries.
According to the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department, the shooting happened Saturday at around 1:30 am at Da Hole. Six people were injured.
There are no suspects at this time.
In addition to the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, New Madrid Police Department, Gideon Police Department and the Sikeston Department of Public Safety are investigating.

CHARLESTON AUTHORITIES INVESTIGATE SHOOTING THAT LEAVES FOUR INJURED
Police in Charleston are investigating a weekend shooting incident in which four people were injured.
According to the Charleston Department of Public Safety, officers responded to a call on Vine Street Saturday shortly before 10:20 pm. Shortly after that, officers received a call that there was a gunshot victim at a cemetery.
The investigation revealed that four people: a 25 year old, a 20 year old and a 16 year old, all from Charleston; as well as a 22 year old from Bertrand had been injured.
NORTHEAST ARKASAS MAN ARRESTED ON CHILD PORN CHARGES
A Mississippi County, Arkansas man has been arrested on child porn charges.
Authorities say 22 year old Kenneth Ethan Tyler Lafkin, of Keiser, is facing 30 counts of distributing, possessing or viewing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child.
Investigators executed a search warrant at Lafkin’s home last month, where they seized a desktop computer, two laptop computers and other electronic devices.
TWO ARRESTED AFTER ASSAULT AT ORAN LIBRARY
Two people have been arrested after an incident at the Oran Library.
According to Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter, 22 year old Thomas J. Sheppard III, of Cape Girardeau, and 26 year old Sarah B. Cook, of Sikeston, have each been charged with assault. Sheppard also faces a charge of misdemeanor property damage.
Sheriff Walter says the charges stem from an incident Friday morning. A deputy responded to a call from a man who said he had been attacked by Sheppard and Cook. The victim said he had gotten into a verbal altercation with the two over some posts on Facebook. He told the deputy that Sheppard hit and kicked him, and that when he was down on the ground, Cook stomped on his head.
KENNETT MAN ARRESTED FOR LEADING POLICE ON CHASE IN STOLEN CAR
A Kennett man has been arrested after leading police on a chase in a stolen car Saturday.
Authorities say 23 year old Joshua Burleson, of Marmaduke, Arkansas was taken into custody shortly after 5 am.
According to the Kennett Police Department, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle being driven by Burleson. The car had been identified as stolen from Jonesboro. Burleson refused to stop and led officers on a chase that eventually ended when he crashed into a cotton field, north of Highway 153.
ROUTE 49 IN WAYNE COUNTY REDUCED FOR TREE TRIMMING
A portion of Route 49 in Wayne County will be reduced to one lane this week as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform tree trimming.
This affected section of roadway is located from Route A to Mill Springs.
Work is scheduled to be performed today through Friday, from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm each day.
NORTHBOUND INTERSTATE 55 IN SCOTT COUNTY REDUCED FOR GUARDRAIL REPAIRS
A portion of Northbound I-55 in Scott County will be reduced to one lane as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform guardrail repairs today and tomorrow. Work is scheduled to be performed from 8 am to 3 pm each day.
This bridge is located one mile North of Route 60.
NOVEMBER DEER HARVEST UP FROM LAST YEAR
Hunters checked over 160,000 deer during the 11-day November portion of Missouri’s firearms deer season.
Building on a strong opening weekend harvest, Missouri hunters went on to check a total of 167,205 deer during firearms deer season November 15 through 25. The number exceeds last year’s harvest of 157,273.
The Missouri Department of Conservation reports the top harvest counties were Howell with 3, 418 deer checked; Franklin with 3,338; and Texas with 3,170.
This year’s harvest is 6 percent higher than last year’s figure.
