WOMAN KILLED IN ATV WRECK IN BUTLER COUNTY

 

A Gordonville woman has died following an ATV wreck Friday night in Butler County.

 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 20 year old Marissa Hill was ejected from an ATV that had overturned on private property.

 

She was taken to an area hospital and later pronounced dead.

 

The ATV was driven by 22 year old Mark Drury, of Scott City.

 

 

MAN IN CUSTODY FOLLOWING FATAL SIKESTON SHOOTING

 

A Sikeston man is in custody following a shooting Saturday night.

 

According to the Sikeston Department of Public Safety, officers received a report of shots being fired in the Welter and Lee Street area shortly after 11 pm. At the scene, they found an SUV stopped in the middle of the roadway.

 

The driver of the vehicle had been fatally shot. A passenger was found yards away from the vehicle in a nearby lot. The passenger had three gunshot wounds that he apparently received when he was trying to get away from gunfire inside the vehicle. The names of the two victims were not released.

 

An investigation into the incident led to the arrest of 26 year old Tyler Triplett. He has been charged with first degree murder and first degree assault.

 

Police are asking that anyone with information about the shooting to contact Sikeston DPS at 573-471-4711.

 

 

WOMAN ALLEGEDLY STABBED WITH A SCREWDRIVER IN EAST PRAIRIE

 

A man was taken into custody Friday in East Prairie in connection to an alleged assault with a screwdriver.

 

According to the East Prairie Police Department, the victim sustained two stab wounds as a result of the altercation. The victim said that 30 year old Anthony George, of East Prairie, had kicked in her front door and assaulted her by repeatedly kicking and punching her.

 

George then picked up a screwdriver and began swinging it in her direction striking and stabbing her twice. Police say the victim is in stable condition.

 

George was arrested and charged with first degree domestic assault, first degree burglary, and armed criminal action.

 

 

EIGHT YEAR OLD GIRL INJURED AFTER GETTING HIT BY A VEHICLE

 

An eight year old girl suffered minor injuries Sunday after she was hit by a vehicle.

 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on Route AA, east of Poplar Bluff.

 

A 16 year old Poplar Bluff teenager was reportedly driving a vehicle that ran off of Route AA, hit a parked vehicle, and then struck the girl.

 

The teenager sustained minor injuries.

 

 

POPLAR BLUFF MAN CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF METHAMPHETAMINE

 

A Poplar Bluff man was arrested Saturday night on multiple drug charges.

 

According to authorities, 32 year old Donald Kipper has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine and possession of marijuana.

 

Kipper is also facing charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding.

 

 

LOUISIANA WOMAN ARRESTED FOR CRYSTAL METH IN DUNKLIN COUNTY

 

A Louisiana woman is facing charges out of Dunklin County following her arrest early Friday morning.

 

According to authorities, 34 year old Tabitha Chase, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, was arrested on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance, crystal methamphetamine and sulfamethoxazole; along with tampering with a motor vehicle.

 

Chase is also charged with driving while intoxicated, drugs; unlawful use of drug paraphernalia; and possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana.

 

 

MAN FACING CHARGES FOLLOWING WRECK IN BUTLER COUNTY

 

A man is facing charges after he was involved in a wreck Friday in Butler County.

 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred when a vehicle driven by 34 year old Jeremy Sykes, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign and drove into the path of another vehicle.

 

Sykes, a passenger in his vehicle, and the driver of the second vehicle all suffered serious injuries.

 

A short time after the wreck, Sykes was arrested on two counts of felony second degree vehicular assault and a single count of failure to stop at a stop sign.

 

 

SINKHOLE FORCES CLOSURE OF PART OF WALNUT RIDGE ROAD

 

A sinkhole was found Sunday in Walnut Ridge.

 

The sinkhole is about 20 inches in diameter and has caused officials to close the south lane of Southern Avenue where it meets with Elm Street.

 

Motorists are asked to use extreme caution in the area.

 

 

BRIDGE REPAIRS TO BE PERFORMED THIS WEEK IN STODDARD COUNTY

 

Crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation will be in Stoddard County early this week for bridge maintenance.

 

According to MODOT, crews will be working at two sites on Route 114. One bridge is located between Routes 60 and 153, while the other is between Routes 153 and 25. During the repairs, Route 114 will be reduced to one lane.

 

Work is scheduled to be done from 8 am to 4:30 pm both today and tomorrow.

 

 

MODOT CREWS TO BE IN CARTER COUNTY THIS WEEK

 

Westbound Route 60 in Carter County will be reduced to one lane this week so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can perform roadside work.

 

The section of roadway to be reduced is located from County Road 367 to the Cane Creek Bridge.

 

Work will take place through Wednesday, June 10th from 7:30 am to 4 pm daily.

 

 

NEW MADRID COUNTY ROAD CLOSED TODAY FOR PIPE REPLACEMENT

 

Route AE in New Madrid County will be closed today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace a pipe under roadway.

 

The road will be closed from 6 am to 4:30 pm between Route HH and Route H.
