ESSEX MAN FACING METHAMPHETAMINE CHARGE OUT OF STODDARD COUNTY
An Essex man is facing a felony drug charge following his arrest Wednesday morning in Stoddard County.
Sergeant Clark Parrott with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tells KWOC News that 38 year old Andy Vires was arrested shortly after 8 am Wednesday on a felony charge of possession of methamphetamine.
Vires has also been charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
BROSELEY MAN ARRESTED ON FELONY DRUG CHARGES IN BUTLER COUNTY
Authorities say a Butler County man was taken into custody Wednesday night on felony drug charges.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 60 year old Stanley Ward, of Broseley, was arrested on two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance – Alprozalam.
Ward is also charged with unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and driving while intoxicated – drugs and alcohol.
MISSOURI GOVERNOR JAY NIXON TO BE IN POPLAR BLUFF TODAY
Missouri Governor Jay Nixon is scheduled to make a stop today in Poplar Bluff.
Governor Nixon will be attending an event at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on the campus of Three Rivers College at 11:15 am. He will be making an announcement about local investments at the event.
PARENTS ADVISED TO GET THEIR CHILDREN’S CAR SEAT CHECKED
This week is Child Passenger Safety Week and officials are reminding parents to get their child’s car seat checked.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, three out of four child safety seats are improperly installed. Tomorrow has been set as National Seat Check Saturday and you can go online to seatcheck.org to find a car seat inspection station near you.
In Poplar Bluff, parents can go to the Butler County Community Resource Center on Charles Street to get their child seat inspected.
MIA/POW RECOGNITION DAY CEREMONY TO BE HELD THIS MORNING IN BLOOMFIELD
The Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield will be hosting a MIA/POW Recognition Day Ceremony this morning beginning at 10 am.
The program, conducted by the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, will be held at the Committal Shelter Plaza in the cemetery.

MULTIPLE EVENTS HIGHLIGHT DAY THREE OF THE 2015 BUTLER COUNTY FAIR
Multiple events highlight day three of the 2015 Butler County Fair in Poplar Bluff.
The day kicks off at 8 am with the opening of Home Ec/Youth and Ag Exhibits at the Black River Coliseum lobby. Bidding will also continue for the Silent Auction at 8 am.
The gates for Ray Clinton Park will open at 4 pm. Events scheduled for today include the BBQ Cook-off, the dog show, children’s games, and more.
The Iron Mountain Station Band, Swamp Whiskey Band, and Stasis Project Band will all be performing on the Main Stage.

OLD GREENVILLE DAYS TO KICK OFF ON SATURDAY
The 24th Annual Old Greenville Days is set for this weekend.
