POPLAR BLUFF PUBLIC WATER SYSTEM FOUND IN VIOLATION OF DRINKING WATER STANDARDS
An official with the Poplar Bluff Water District tells KWOC News that they were alerted last month by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources that the Poplar Bluff public water system has violated a drinking water standard.
According to Plant Superintendent Roger Daggett, the water system was found to have levels of disinfection byproducts above drinking water standards. This is not an emergency and customers do not need to use an alternative water supply.
Daggett says that you would have to drink a quart of this water a day for the next 70 years to be affected by this.
Daggett also says that they are always looking for the ways to correct the issue and that this is the first time this year that this has happened.
