ONE KILLED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK NEAR ALTON
One person has died following a single vehicle wreck Wednesday afternoon near Alton.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a vehicle driven by 55 year old Steven Blackman, of Alton, ran off the side of Highway P, hit a tree, and overturned.
A passenger in the vehicle, 74 year old Judy Blackman, also of Alton, was pronounced dead at an area hospital. The driver suffered minor injuries.
WAPPAPELLO MAN FACING CHARGE OF LEAVING THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT
A Wappapello man is facing multiple charges in connection to his arrest Wednesday afternoon in Butler County.
According to authorities, 34 year old James Boykin was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.
He was taken to the Butler County Justice Center and placed on a 12 hour hold.
POPLAR BLUFF WOMAN ARRESTED ON DRUG WARRANT
A Poplar Bluff woman was taken into custody Wednesday on a drug warrant.
Sergeant Clark Parrott with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tells KWOC News that 34 year old Erin Ryan was arrested at around 1:25 pm Wednesday in Stoddard County.
Parrott says Ryan had a warrant out of Butler County for possession of a controlled substance.
MAN IN CUSTODY IN CONNECTION TO THEFT FROM POPLAR BLUFF BUSINESS
A Poplar Bluff man is in custody in connection to a theft at a local business.
According to Poplar Bluff Deputy Police Chief Jeff Rolland, officers arrested 39 year old Lewis Bean at Wal-Mart after an employee observed Bean and a woman with a cart full of items and no receipt. When contacted by an employee, both Bean and the woman ran out the front door.
Bean was then caught by an employee at the business.
The woman, Lisa Woodham, left the scene in a white truck and was not located.
CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL TRIBUTE TO BE HELD TONIGHT AT TINNIN CENTER
Fans of Creedence Clearwater Revival will have an opportunity to hear some of the favorite songs tonight at the Tinnin Center.
“Bad Moon Risin’” will be performing the best-known hits of CCR, including “Proud Mary,” “Fortunate Son,” and “Who’ll Stop the Rain.”
The group is led by local-born musician Jon Sousan, who has previously performed at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center with the Bee Gees tribute show “Night Fever.”
This is the first show of the 2015 Patrons of the Arts Season and tickets will be available at the door for 10 dollars each.
POKER RUN TO BE HELD AT LAKE WAPPAPELLO
A Poker Run is scheduled to be held on October 3rd at Lake Wappapello.
Registration will begin at 8:30 am at Lake Wappapello VFW Post 3416 on D Highway. Registration for the vehicle and operator is $15 with one score card included. 50 percent of the proceeds will go to the VA Hospital CLC.

COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO HELP TEACH STUDENTS AT LAKE ROAD
Students at Lake Road School will have a chance to learn something new every week from some new teachers.
The school has reinstated Club Day in place of special periods on Friday to offer students the opportunities to learn trades that they may not otherwise be exposed to.
Community members and high school students will come in for an hour a week to teach younger students about various careers and hobbies including cheerleading, cooking, crafts, gaming, jiu-jitsu, piano and science.
