TWO ARRESTED FOLLOWING ROBBERY INVESTIGATION IN STEELE
Authorities in Steele have arrested two people in connection to an armed robbery investigation.
Steele Police Chief Billy Joe Stanfield tells KWOC News that on Monday a 35 year old man reported that he had been robbed at gun point at a vacant home in Steele. The victim told police that the suspects had robbed him of a large amount of money.
An investigation into the incident led to the arrest of 21 year old Nikki Williams and 25 year old Trever Grice, both of Park Hills. The duo was arrested by Kennett Police at an area motel and officers reportedly found a large amount of cash in the suspects’ room.
Both Williams and Grice have been charged with armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon 1st degree robbery, and 1st degree burglary.
OFFICERS WILL NOT BE CHARGED IN CONNECTION TO BLYTHEVILLE SHOOTING
Charges will not be filed against two police officers in connection to a shooting incident in Blytheville.
According to Scott Ellington, Prosecuting Attorney for the 2nd Judicial District of Arkansas, the two officers were justified when they shot two suspects on October 8th.
The suspects and officers had been involved in a high speed chase when the suspects’ vehicle reportedly rammed a police vehicle and accelerated toward one of the officer’s. This is when the two officers fired at the driver’s area of the vehicle.
The two suspects both survived.
COOTER MAN FACING ASSAULT CHARGE
A Cooter man is facing an assault charge following an incident in Steele.
According to Steele Police Chief Billy Joe Stanfield, officers responded to a residence Monday in reference to a fight in progress.
At the residence a man told officers that 21 year old Gary Roger Smith Jr. had struck him in the face with a wooden board. The victim was reportedly bleeding profusely from a laceration on his face and was taken to an area hospital.
Smith was arrested and charged with armed criminal action, tampering with motor vehicle and 1st degree assault. He was lodged in the Pemiscot County Jail.
MISSOURI STATE VETERANS CEMETERY TO HOLD VETERANS DAY PROGRAM
The Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield will be holding their annual Veterans Day Program on November 11th.
The program will begin at 1 pm at the Committal Shelter Plaza in the cemetery. The keynote speaker for this year’s program is Robert Wayne Fortenberry, who is a Vietnam era veteran of the US Navy.

4-H VOLUNTEERS NEEDED IN BUTLER COUNTY
Volunteers are needed for various 4-H Clubs in Butler County.
Stephanie Milner, 4-H Youth Development Specialst at the Butler County University of Missouri Extension tells KWOC News that volunteers are needed for many different things, such as running a club, becoming a project leader, and helping out at club meetings.
Milner says that even if you are time limited you can volunteer for as little as six hours throughout the year.
There are 4-H clubs in Neelyville, Rombauer, Poplar Bluff, Fisk, and Qulin, and anyone who would like more information about volunteering can call 573-686-8064.
