MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY FOLLOWING INCIDENT WHERE SHOTS WERE FIRED IN POPLAR BLUFF  

A Poplar Bluff man has been taken into custody following a weekend incident where shots were fired at an area residence.

ONE INJURED IN WRECK OUTSIDE OF DEXTER

 

One person has suffered serious injuries following a two vehicle wreck near Dexter.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred when a vehicle driven by 64 year old David Miller, of Essex, turned onto Highway 60 shortly before 6 pm Monday evening.

The taillights on Miller’s vehicle were reportedly inoperable and his vehicle was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by 37 year old Aaron Menley, of Dexter.

Menley suffered serious injuries in the wreck and was taken by Air Evac to an area hospital.

 

ADVANCE TEEN FACING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGE

 

An Advance teen was recently taken into custody on a child pornography charge.

According to Missouri Case Net, 17 year old Jarett Simmons was arrested by the Advance Police Department on a charge of possession of child pornography.

Simmons bond was set at $35,000 cash only.

 

POPLAR BLUFF MAN FACING ATTEMPTED ROBBERY CHARGE

 

A Poplar Bluff man has been taken into custody on an attempted robbery charge.

According to Deputy Chief Jeff Rolland with the Poplar Bluff Police Department, on Saturday officers were dispatched to a residence in reference to an assault. At the residence the victim told officers that he was approached by a man armed with a baseball bat.

The suspect then demanded the victim show him what he was carrying. The victim then ran from the scene. The victim later identified the suspect as 43 year old Randy Foster.

Foster was booked for 1st degree attempted robbery and lodged at the Butler County Justice Center.

 

TWO YEAR OLD SERIOUSLY INJURED IN WRECK, DRIVER FACING CHARGES

 

A two year old boy was seriously injured Monday afternoon in a Carter County wreck.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol tells KWOC News that the wreck occurred shortly after 4 pm on Highway 60 at Ellsinore.

A vehicle, driven by 25 year old Matthew Maxwell, of Grandin, allegedly swerved and struck a second vehicle causing it to lose control and overturn. Maxwell’s vehicle then crossed the median, hit a ditch, and struck a parked vehicle.

A two year old child in Maxwell’s vehicle suffered serious injuries and was later flown to a St. Louis hospital. Maxwell and a female passenger both suffered moderate injuries.

Maxwell was later arrested on charges including DWI – drugs, and felony 2nd degree endangering the welfare of a child.

 

DRIVERS EXAMINATION STATIONS TO BE CLOSED FOR VETERANS DAY

 

Anyone who is looking to take a driver’s test Wednesday will need to wait a day.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has announced that driver examination stations throughout the state will be closed Wednesday in observance of Veterans Day.

The examination stations will also be closed later this month for Thanksgiving.

 

STODDARD COUNTY ROAD TO BE REDUCED THIS WEEK FOR PAVEMENT REPAIRS

 

Route 25 in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane this week as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.

The work zone is located from Route Z to Route H.

Weather permitting; work will take place through Friday from 8:30 am to 3 pm daily.
