MAN SHOT DURING ALLEGED ROBBERY IN BLYTHEVILLE
Authorities in Northeast Arkansas say a man has been flown to a Memphis hospital in connection to a Blytheville shooting.
According to Blytheville Police, two men allegedly robbed 53 year old Edwin Cold at Cold’s residence on Thursday. Cold was also shot during the robbery.

POPLAR BLUFF AND KENNETT RESIDENTS AMONG 35 HONORED AT LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR’S VETERANS SERVICE AWARDS
A Poplar Bluff and Kennett resident were among 35 Missourians honored earlier this week at the Missouri Lieutenant Governor’s Veterans Service Awards .
Dr. Farrah McSpadden, of Poplar Bluff, and Roger Wheeler, of Kennett were among the veterans honored at the ceremony Tuesday in Jefferson City.
The Lieutenant Governor’s Veterans Service Award recognizes Missouri veterans who provide exemplary volunteer service to their communities.
DEADLINE EXTENDED FOR THREE RIVERS COLLEGE NURSING PROGRAMS
Officials at Three Rivers College have extended the deadline to apply for nursing programs in Poplar Bluff.
The application deadline for the Poplar Bluff day RN program and evening LPN-to-RN Bridge program is now April 1st, and the deadline for the Poplar Bluff RN evening program is now May 1st.
Dr. Staci Campbell, chair of Nursing and Allied Health, tells us that the extension was to ensure that all eligible students have the time needed to apply.

EAST CARTER COUNTY SCHOOL TO HOST FAFSA FRENZY EVENT
The East Carter County School district will be hosting an event this weekend to help students complete their free applications for federal student aid.
FAFSA Frenzy has been scheduled for 2 to 4 pm on Saturday at the East Carter County High School. The free event will offer students and their parents an opportunity to meet one-on-one with financial aid advisors for assistance in filling out the FAFSA, the first step in applying for federal student aid.
Students can also enter for a chance to win a scholarship for the Fall 2016 term at a college, university, or other postsecondary school in Missouri.
GOLDILOCKS TO BE PERFORMED THIS WEEKEND AT THE TINNIN FINE ARTS CENTER
A musical adaptation of the fairy tale Goldilocks will be performed this weekend at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center in Poplar Bluff.
The performance by the Imaginary Theatre Company will begin at 2 pm on Sunday. The show will give a new musical take on the well-known tale and feature Goldilocks learning lessons about friendship and acceptance.
Tickets for the March 6th performance can be purchased online for $5 per person at trcc.edu/tinnin. Tickets are also available at the Three Rivers College Financial Services Office.
KIWANIS PANCAKE DAY SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 5TH
The Kiwanis of Poplar Bluff will be hosting a Pancake Day this weekend.
The event will be held on Saturday from 6 am to noon at the Poplar Bluff Junior High Cafeteria.
Tickets for the event are $5 and will get you sausage, a drink, and all you can eat pancakes. Carry out will also be available. The event is being held to benefit Bacon Park.
