POPLAR BLUFF VOTERS CHOOSE DAVIS AND BLACK FOR CITY COUNCIL

  Voters in Poplar Bluff have decided who will be sitting on the Poplar Bluff City Council.

On Tuesday, voters chose Steven Davis and Ron Black for the two at large seats.

In Neelyville, James Collier won the race for Ward 1 Alderman by two votes and Kevin Bynum was elected Mayor.

According to officials, 2,997 people voted in Butler County during Tuesday’s election for a turnout of 11.48 percent.

 

  ROBERTSON AND SCOTT REELECTED TO POPLAR BLUFF SCHOOL BOARD

  Multiple area school boards held elections yesterday in Butler County

For the Poplar Bluff School Board, incumbents Alana Robertson and John Scott were both reelected and will be joined by Jerrod Murphy for three-year terms.

In the Twin Rivers School District voters in Butler County favored David Dugger, Billy Watson, and Roger Baxter for the three board seats. Baxter led Robert Thurman by only 14 votes and results from Stoddard County for the race were not available.

In Neelyville, the three school board board seats will be filled by Paul Petty, Dean Fisher, and Shane Eaker.

 

  MAN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION TO SHOT FIRED IN POPLAR BLUFF

  A man was taken into custody following an incident Tuesday morning in Poplar Bluff.

According to authorities, 29 year old Kenneth Maple Jr., of Poplar Bluff, was arrested in connection to an alleged shot being fired outside an area residence.

Maple was transported to the Butler County Jail.

 

  GIBSON MAN ARRESTED ON METH CHARGE IN DUNKLIN COUNTY

  Authorities in Dunklin County have arrested a Gibson man on a felony meth charge.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 39 year old George Odom was arrested Tuesday afternoon on felony charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance – alprazolam.

Odom is also facing a charge of driving while intoxicated.

Following the arrest, Odom was held at the Dunklin County Jail.

 

  LEADWOOD WOMAN FACING FLEEING CHARGE

  A Leadwood woman is facing a fleeing charge following her arrest Tuesday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 32 year old Shawnna Evans was arrested shortly before noon Tuesday in Ripley County on a felony charge of resisting arrest by fleeing.

She is also facing a hindering prosecution charge.

Evans was transported to the Doniphan Police Department following the arrest.

 

 

 

PERIODIC LANE CLOSURES TO BEGIN TODAY ON ROUTE W IN BUTLER COUNTY

 

 

The Missouri Department of Transportation says that periodic lane closures are scheduled to begin today in Butler County.

The closures will be due to the construction of the trail in the Route W area. The trail project is part of the Local Public Agencies Program.

The section of Route W affected is located from Business 67 to McLane Park in Poplar Bluff. Lane reductions will be in place as contractor crews pour concrete in the area.

Weather permitting, work will take place today through Friday, April 14th from 7 am to 4:30 pm each day.
