VEHICLE OVERTURNS IN BUTLER COUNTY, SERIOUSLY INJURING ONE
A vehicle overturned Monday afternoon in Butler County resulting in serious injuries to an area man.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 40 year old Shawn Tubbs, of Harviell, was driving on Highway 142 when his vehicle lost control, ran off the roadway, hit a tree, and overturned. The wreck occurred at the Poplar Bluff city limits.
Tubbs suffered serious injuries and was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital.
GRASSY MAN FACING CHARGES OF STATUTORY SODOMY AND CHILD MOLESTATION An area man has been taken into custody on multiple felony charges.
According to Missouri Case Net, a warrant was served Monday on 72 year old Johnathan Barks Senior, of Grassy.
He was arrested by the Bollinger County Sheriff’s Department and has been charged with 2nd degree statutory sodomy and 4th degree child molestation. His bond was set at $50,000, cash only.
Barks arraignment has been scheduled for Wednesday morning.
TWO SERIOUSLY INJURED IN WRECK NEAR DEXTER Two Campbell residents were seriously injured Monday afternoon after an SUV crashed near Dexter.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the wreck occurred when the driver, 49 year old Roxie Calder, of Campbell, lost control of the vehicle on Missouri Highway 25 and struck a utility pole.
Two passengers in the vehicle, 30 year old Rebecca Calder and 27 year old Marcia Coshatt, suffered serious injuries and were taken to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
POPLAR BLUFF MAN ARRESTED ON METH CHARGE A Poplar Bluff man was taken into custody Monday evening on a felony methamphetamine charge.
According to the Highway Patrol, 29 year old Thomas Crumley was arrested Monday evening on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.
Crumley is also facing a charge of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and has a warrant out of Wilson County, Kansas.
Crumley was transported to the Butler County Jail following the arrest.
DEADLINE TO REGISTER FOR YOUTH BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL IN POPLAR BLUFF EXTENDED TO THIS FRIDAY The deadline to get your children signed up for baseball or softball in Poplar Bluff has been extended to this Friday.
According to Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation, the deadline is for youths who will be age eight through 15 on August 1st.
There is no registration fee and registration forms can be found at the Parks Department office or online at www.poplarbluff-mo.gov.

YOUTH ALCOHOL ENFORCEMENT CRACKDOWN ANNOUNCED FOR NEXT MONTH The Dexter Police Department has announced their participation in a nationwide youth alcohol enforcement crackdown.
The crackdown will include high visibility enforcement throughout Dexter from May 4th to May 15th.
According to Police officials, officers will be aggressively looking for substance–impaired drivers during the crackdown and will arrest anyone caught driving impaired.
