PRESIDENT TRUMP APPROVES DISASTER DECLARATION FOR MISSOURIPresident Donald Trump has approved a major disaster declaration that makes federal disaster assistance available to the state of Missouri to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds, and flooding from April 28th to May 11th.
Federal funding is available to affected individuals in 27 counties including Bollinger, Butler, Carter, Dunklin, Madison, Oregon, Pemiscot, Reynolds, Ripley, and Shannon counties.
Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster.
Individuals and business owners who sustained losses in the designated area can apply for assistance by registering online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).
Federal funding is also available to state and local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of disaster-damaged facilities damaged by the severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds, and flooding in 46 counties. FOUR VEHICLES INVOLVED IN WRECK NEAR DONIPHAN Two people were injured in a wreck involving four vehicles on Friday near Doniphan.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that the wreck occurred at around 1:45 pm Friday on Missouri Highway 21.
A vehicle driven by 20 year old Dalton Cuculich, of Doniphan, allegedly crossed the centerline of the road and struck two vehicles before running off the road and down an embankment.
One of the vehicles struck by Cuculich ran off the side of the road then overturned after being struck by another vehicle when returning to the roadway.
The driver of that vehicle, 50 year old Stephen Cullison, of Ellsinore, suffered moderate injuries. The driver of the second vehicle to strike Cullison’s vehicle, 46 year old Mary Ridgon, of Doniphan, also suffered moderate injuries.
DEXTER WOMAN ARRESTED ON MARIJUANA WARRANT Authorities in Stoddard County have arrested an area woman on a marijuana warrant.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 21 year old Serena Sanders, of Dexter, was recently arrested on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance.
Sanders was also arrested on a warrant for possession of marijuana with intent to sell.
TWO ARRESTED ON DRUG AND FIREARM CHARGES IN KENNETT Two people were arrested last week in Kennett on drug and firearm charges.
According to the Kennett Police Department, on Thursday officers arrested 21 year old Demetrus Hyles, of Hayti, and 21 year old Demarcus Leech, of Poplar Bluff, for possession of marijuana over 35 grams and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Officials say that both were transported to the Dunklin County Jail pending formal charges from the State Prosecutor's Office.
DEXTER MAN ARRESTED ON METH CHARGE A Dexter man was taken into custody over the weekend on a felony meth charge.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 29 year old Heath Moore was arrested Sunday morning on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.
Following the arrest, Moore was transported to the Stoddard County Jail.
MISSOURI SECRETARY OF STATE TO BE IN POPLAR BLUFF THIS WEEK TO DISCUSS VOTER ID LAW Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft will be in Poplar Bluff later this week to discuss the new Voter ID law.
On Wednesday, Ashcroft will be at the Butler County Courthouse at 11 am.
The stop is a part of Ashcroft’s week-long, statewide Voter ID Informational Tour, which he says will allow him an opportunity to share clear and accurate guidance to Missourians about the new voter ID law and assist anyone who needs to register to vote.
Ashcroft will also be stopping on Wednesday in Caruthersville at 1:30 pm. That appearance will be at the Caruthersville Library.
