CAMPGROUND AT OLD GREENVILLE RECREATION AREA TO REMAIN CLOSED FOR THE SEASONThe U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced that the campground at the Old Greenville Recreation Area will remain closed this season.

According to a post on the Corps Facebook page, high water from the flooding and a destructive windstorm over Memorial Day Weekend caused extensive damage to the Old Greenville Recreation Area, Campground, and Memory Lane Trail.

The recreation area boat ramp and vault toilet are now open for use. The day use area, including the picnic shelter and playground area, will open as soon as hazards are removed and the area is cleaned.

Officials say that the Annual Old Greenville Days event in September will go forward as scheduled; however the campground and memory lane trail will not reopen this season.

Anyone who has questions is being asked to contact the Wappapello Lake Management office at 573-222-8562.
