MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN CARTER COUNTY WRECK

A man was seriously injured Thursday morning in a wreck on a snow covered Carter County road.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 30 year old Dewayne Avery, of Grandin, was driving on Highway B at around 8 am when his vehicle slid off the roadway and overturned.

Avery, who was reportedly not wearing a safety device, was ejected during the wreck and suffered serious injuries.

He was taken by ambulance to a Poplar Bluff hospital.

BERNIE MAN IN CUSTODY ON ATTEMPTED STATUTORY RAPE WARRANT

Authorities in Stoddard County say that a Bernie man is in custody on a warrant for attempted statutory rape.

According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 69 year old Jimmy Sloan, of Bernie, was recently arrested on a warrant for three counts of attempted statutory rape.

Sloan’s bond was set at $75,000, cash only, and officials say he remained in jail as of this morning.

FIRE DAMAGES POPLAR BLUFF HOUSE

A house in Poplar Bluff was damaged during an early morning fire on Thursday.

According to authorities, the fire was located at a vacant house on Ethel Street.

There were no injuries reported and authorities are investigating a cause for the fire.

ADVANCE MAN FACING TERRORIST THREAT CHARGE

An Advance man has been taken into custody on a terrorist threat charge.

According to a post on the Sikeston R-6 Schools Facebook page, yesterday they learned of threatening comments that were made by a former student through social media referencing Sikeston High School.

The school says that Sikeston DPS has quickly acted and there is no current threat to students or staff.

According to Missouri Case Net, 20 year old Braeden Herron has been taken into custody on a charge of making a terrorist threat - 1st degree.

His bond was set at $50,000, cash only.

DEADLINE EXTENDED FOR ENTRY INTO THE RIVER RADIO LIGHTED CHRISTMAS PARADE

The deadline has been extended to get your entry in for the 2018 River Radio Lighted Christmas Parade.

The parade is scheduled to begin at 6:30 pm on Friday, December 7th. Entry forms are available at River Radio as well as on our Facebook page and website and are being accepted through November 23rd.

The parade route this year will run from Highway 142 at McDonalds through downtown Poplar Bluff before looping back and ending at the Black River Coliseum.

TWO ARRESTED ON METHAMPHETAMINE CHARGE IN BUTLER COUNTY

Two Arkansas men were taken into custody Thursday evening in Butler County on a methamphetamine charge.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 43 year old Larry Kirk, of Ravenden, and 27 year old Jeremy Thomas, of Hoxie, were each arrested at around 6 pm Thursday on a charge of possession of methamphetamine.

Following their arrests, both men were held at the Butler County Jail.

DRAINAGE REPAIRS SET FOR TODAY IN STODDARD COUNTY

Route U in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane beginning today so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can perform drainage repairs.

The section of roadway to be reduced is located at County Road 681 and continuing for half a mile to the west.

Work is scheduled to take place from 8 am to 4 pm daily through Tuesday, November 20th.
