MULTIPLE DWI SATURATION’S TO BE HELD IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol say that multiple special operations are planned for Southeast Missouri throughout December.  

According to Captain Jeffrey Vitale, commanding officer of Troop E of the Highway Patrol, sometime during the month of December, Troop E officers will be conducting several driving while intoxicated saturation enforcement operations.  

Vitale says the operations will be conducted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol in cooperation with local law enforcement agencies.

POPLAR BLUFF CHURCH TO HOST TOY DRIVE THIS WEEKEND 

A Poplar Bluff church will be hosting a toy drive this weekend.  

Mount Calvary Powerhouse Church will be presenting its 12th Annual Community Toy Drive from 10 am until noon on Saturday, December 15th.  

There will be toys, hats, gloves, coats, shoes, electronics, food baskets, and a bike raffle.  

The Toy Drive will be located at the church’s gymnasium on Speedway Drive in Poplar Bluff.

POPLAR BLUFF LEAF PICK UP SCHEDULE TO BEGIN THIS WEEK 

The leaf pick up schedule for the city of Poplar Bluff is set to begin this week.  

According to city officials, the leaf pick up is scheduled to be in Ward 2 from today through December 21st. It will move to other city wards in the following weeks.  

Leaves may also be disposed of at the landfill located on the east side of the city. To reach the landfill, take Bartlett Street to “F” Street and go under the railroad crossing. Follow the graveled portion of “F” Street around the curve and the disposal is located on the left side of the road. There are signs marking the location.  

The site is open for leaf disposal from 8 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday.

POPLAR BLUFF MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK IN RIPLEY COUNTY 

A Poplar Bluff man was taken to an area hospital Friday evening after being involved in a single vehicle wreck in Ripley County.  

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred shortly after 5 pm when a vehicle driven by 24 year old Timothy Elliott ran off the side of Route 142 in Oxly, and struck a sign.  

Elliott suffered moderate injuries in the wreck and was transported to a Poplar Bluff Hospital.

KIWANIS NASHVILLE CHRISTMAS CONCERT SET FOR THIS WEEKEND  

The Poplar Bluff Kiwanis will be hosting a Christmas concert this weekend to raise money for Kiwanis Bacon Park.  

The Kiwanis Nashville Christmas Concert has been scheduled for 7 pm Friday night at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center. There will be performances from multiple artists, including Kyle Richards, Tiffany Ashton, Nathan Shore, Gabrielle Metz, Macy Mac, and Tristan Ashton.  

General admission tickets are available for $10 and VIP Tickets, including food, drink, and the chance to hang out with the performers, are available for $25. Tickets can be purchased at the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce and Whitworth’s Gift Chest Jewelers.

WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA PROGRAM TO BE HELD AT MISSOURI STATE VETERANS CEMETERY 

The Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield will be participating in the annual Wreaths Across America program on December 15th. 

During the ceremony a wreath will be placed on every grave in the cemetery. Families and friends of those interred as well as the general public are invited to attend the event.  

The program will begin at 11 am Saturday at the Committal Shelter Pavilion in the cemetery.
