REPRESENTATIVES OF MISSOURI ATTORNEY GENERAL TO SPEAK TO TORNADO VICTIMS TODAY
Representatives of Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley will be in Malden today to speak with victims of this past weekend’s tornado.
The representatives will be at the Multi-Agency Resource Center from 2 to 8 pm to answer questions and provide guidance on disaster-related assistance to consumers affected by the tornado.
The Resource Center is located at the Malden Community Center.
Congressman Jason Smith was in Malden and Matthews yesterday to meet with officials and discuss the extent of the damage in their areas.
JUVENILE CHARGED WITH TERRORISTIC THREATNING FOLLOWING POSSIBLE THREAT TO MARMADUKE HIGH SCHOOL
A juvenile is facing a felony charge following a possible threat at a Northeast Arkansas high school.
Officials with the Marmaduke Police Department say they received a call earlier this week from the administration of Marmaduke High School about a possible threat towards the school.
During the investigation, a male juvenile was taken out of the school and to the Marmaduke Police Department for questioning. The juvenile was later arrested for felony terroristic threatening and taken to the juvenile authorities in Paragould.
Police officials say that the matter is still under investigation.
LILBOURN WOMAN FLOWN TO MEMPHIS HOSPITAL AFTER WRECK IN NEW MADRID COUNTY
A Lilbourn woman has been flown to an area hospital after being involved in a wreck in New Madrid County.
According to authorities, 36 year old Michelle Hayes was driving on Highway U yesterday evening when her vehicle ran off the side of the road and overturned.
Hayes, who was reportedly not wearing a safety device, was ejected during the wreck and received serious injuries. She was later flown to a Memphis hospital.
POPLAR BLUFF BOYS BASKETBALL WINS DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP
The Poplar Bluff boys basketball team won their first district championship in almost a decade last night in Cedar Hill.
The Mules won the Class 5, District 1 championship game over Jackson 58 to 52. This is the Mules first district title since the 2008-09 season.
The Mules now advance to play in the state sectional next Wednesday at Jefferson College in Hillsboro. They will play the winner of the district 2 final tonight between Hazelwood Central and Hazelwood West.
The Lady Mules lost their District Championship game last night to Jackson 48 to 32.
POPLAR BLUFF MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN ATV WRECK
A man was seriously injured in an ATV wreck Thursday afternoon in Butler County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, an ATV, driven by 44 year old James Talley, of Poplar Bluff, overturned on County Road 606 and ejected the driver.
Talley, who reportedly was not wearing a safety device, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital.
POPLAR BLUFF MAN ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE FELONY CHARGES
A Poplar Bluff man was taken into custody Thursday night on multiple felony charges.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 26 year old Eldrid Smith was arrested shortly after 7:30 pm on felony charges of tampering with a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident.
Smith is also facing charges of driving while intoxicated – drugs, possession of marijuana, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
KIWANIS CLUB HOLDING 80TH ANNUAL PANCAKE DAY THIS WEEKEND
Pancakes are on the menu this weekend to help out a local group.
The Kiwanis Club of Poplar Bluff will be holding their 80th Annual Pancake Day from 6 am to 2 pm Saturday at the Poplar Bluff Junior High cafeteria.
All you can eat pancakes will be available for $5 at the event. They will also be offering sausage and coffee.
