INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY FOLLOWING HOMICIDE IN STODDARD COUNTY
A homicide investigation is underway in Stoddard County.
Few details about the incident are available, other than it occurred on Mulberry Street in Dexter.

EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING TO GO INTO EFFECT THIS MORNING
Most of Southeast Missouri will be under an excessive heat warning beginning at 10 am.
According to the National Weather Service, high temperatures in the mid-90s with peak heat index readings above 110 are forecast for today.
Everyone is advised to take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening hours. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.
The heat warning will continue until 8 pm this evening and then become a heat advisory which will be in effect until 8 pm on Saturday.

FOUR ARRESTED ON HEROIN AND METHAMPHETAMINE CHARGES IN BUTLER COUNTY
Four people were taken into custody Thursday in Butler County on multiple drug related charges.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 52 year old Lanny Sanders, of Harviell, 56 year old Kimberly Steward, 37 year old Felicia Bunn, and 25 year old Chelcie McKnight, all of Poplar Bluff, were each arrested Thursday evening on charges of possession of heroin and possession of methamphetamine.
The four are also facing an additional charge of felony possession of a controlled substance for dangerous drugs.
FIREARMS AND LARGE AMOUNT OF METHAMPHETAMINE FOUND DURING SEARCH IN MARMADUKE
A man has been arrested after a large amount of methamphetamine and two firearms were found while authorities were executing a search warrant in Northeast Arkansas.
Greene County Sheriff David Carter tells KWOC News that early Wednesday morning, he and Greene County Deputies executed a Search Warrant in Marmaduke, shutting down an active drug selling operation.
During the search, deputies found over a quarter pound of crystal methamphetamine, two firearms, and drug paraphernalia.
Carter says that Daniel Judd was arrested and charged with possession of crystal methamphetamine with purpose to deliver, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Following their arrest, the four people were held at the Butler County Jail.
PILOT UNINJURED AFTER SMALL PLANE CRASHES IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS
A small plane crashed Thursday morning in Northeast Arkansas.
According to authorities, the incident occurred at the Pocahontas Municipal Airport at approximately 11 am.
The plane was attempting to land when it ran off the runway and overturned.
The pilot refused medical treatment.
US ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS TO HOST INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION AND FIREWORKS THIS WEEKEND
The United States Corps of Engineers at Wappapello Lake will be hosting an Independence Day Celebration and fireworks display this weekend.
According to officials there will be various activities, including games, music, and concessions available beginning at 9 am Saturday and continuing throughout the day at Redman Creek Recreation Area.
The fireworks display will begin at dusk.

SENATOR MCCASKILL TO TOUR POPLAR BLUFF BUSINESS TODAY
U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill will be in Poplar Bluff today to visit a local factory.
McCaskill will be touring Mid Continent Steel and Wire, which according to the company, reduced its workforce by over 10 percent on June 15th because of soaring costs and canceled sales resulting from tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump on the wire that Mid Continent uses to produce nails.
60 jobs were cut and the company says it may have to cut 200 more in coming weeks, possibly shutting down completely shortly after.
