ONE DEAD, ANOTHER INJURED FOLLOWING WRECK ON INTERSTATE 57

A Bernie woman has died from injuries she received in a Monday morning wreck in Scott County.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that the wreck occurred on Interstate 57 when a vehicle driven by 70 year old Sharon Stevens turned into the path of another vehicle.

Stevens was pronounced dead at the scene by Scott County Coroner Scott Amick.

The driver of the second vehicle suffered minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital.

 

ONE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN CONNECTION TO SHOOTING DEATH IN HAYTI HEIGHTS

A man has been arrested in connection to a weekend shooting death in Hayti Heights.

According to authorities, 43 year old Robert Grant, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, was reportedly shot at Hayti Heights Park on Sunday.

Herschel Grant, of Hayti, has been taken into custody. According to Missouri Case Net, he is facing felony charges of murder 1st degree, armed criminal action, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

 

ROUTE 21 IN CARTER AND REYNOLDS COUNTIES TO BE REDUCED THIS WEEK

Route 21 in Carter and Reynolds Counties will be reduced to one lane this week while Missouri Department of Transportation crews seal the roadway. 

The section of roadway involved in the project is located from US 60 in Carter County to Route K at Ellington in Reynolds County.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 7 am to 5 pm daily through Thursday.

 

RIDER KILLED IN NEW MADRID COUNTY MOTORCYCLE WRECK

A motorcycle rider was killed in a wreck Monday afternoon in New Madrid County.

According to authorities, 67 year old Joseph Woodruff, of Bartlett, Tennessee, was driving a motorcycle on Interstate 55 when he struck the rear of a vehicle and was ejected.

Woodruff was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.

 

MAN FACING METH CHARGE FOLLOWING ARREST IN STODDARD COUNTY

A Brownwood man was taken into custody yesterday on a felony meth charge.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 37 year old Brandon Mcintyre was arrested on a felony charge of possession of methamphetamine and a misdemeanor Stoddard County warrant.

Following the arrest, Mcintyre was held at the Stoddard County Jail.

 

MARSTON MAN ARRESTED ON DRUG RELATED CHARGES

Authorities in New Madrid County arrested an area man Monday morning on multiple drug related charges.

59 year old Joseph Smeltzer, of Marston, was reportedly taken into custody shortly after 9 am Monday on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.

Smeltzer is also facing a charge of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

ROAD PROJECT TO BEGIN TODAY ON ROUTE VV IN DUNKLIN COUNTY

Route VV in Dunklin County will be reduced with a 12 foot width restriction beginning today as contractor crews perform pavement repairs.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, Route VV will be reduced from Route O to Route 412.   

Weather permitting, work will take place today through Friday, June 15th from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm daily.
