POPLAR BLUFF MAN KILLED IN WRECK IN BUTLER COUNTY
A Poplar Bluff man was found dead Monday at the scene of a wreck in Butler County.
According to Butler County Coroner Andy Moore, on the evening of July 9th a vehicle accident related to a reported stolen truck was discovered near Neelyville. Upon investigation a single occupant was found deceased within the vehicle.
The occupant has been identified as 40 year old Dwayne Young.
Moore says Young was an acquaintance of the owner of the truck that was reported stolen. The owner stated that Young had been at her residence in the days leading up to the stolen vehicle report.
IDENTITY RELEASED OF MAN FOUND DEAD IN POPLAR BLUFF PARK
Updating a story we brought to you yesterday, authorities have released the identity of a body that was found earlier this week in a Poplar Bluff park.
The body of 38 year old Jamie Bell was discovered at around 7 am Monday morning at Sportsman’s Park.
Butler County Coroner Andy Moore tells KWOC News that no foul play is believed to have been involved in the death.
TWIN RIVERS SCHOOL DISTRICT TO HOST REGISTRATION EVENT IN EARLY AUGUST
The Twin Rivers School District has announced that it will be holding a registration event for all students in Kindergarten through 12th grade early next month.
Royal Registration is scheduled for 1 to 7 pm on Tuesday, August 7th, at Twin Rivers High School in Broseley.
There will be booths set up for parents to turn in their updated enrollment forms, receive students schedules, discuss student health concerns with the nurses, ask transportation questions, and allow students to have their school picture taken.
Officials say that a packet will be mailed home on July 20th with the enrollment paperwork that must be completed and returned at Royal Registration.

STURDIVANT MAN CHARGED WITH RAPE
A man is facing a rape charge out of Bollinger County.
According to Missouri Case Net, Roy Jones, of Sturdivant, has been charged with multiple felonies including 2nd degree rape.
Jones’ arraignment has been scheduled for 9 am this morning in Bollinger County.
HEAT ADVISORY TO BE IN EFFECT THIS AFTERNOON
Parts of Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas will be under a heat advisory this afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service, the heat advisory will be in effect from 11 am to 8 pm.
Heat index values are expected to peak near 105 degrees this afternoon.
The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Remember to drink plenty of fluids and stay out of the sun if possible.
HAYTI MAN ARRESTED ON FLEEING CHARGE IN PEMISCOT COUNTY
Authorities in Pemiscot County have arrested an area man on multiple charges.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 30 year old Alnelius Fisher, of Hayti, was taken into custody Tuesday night on charges including resisting arrest by fleeing and driving while suspended.
Following the arrest, Fisher was held at the Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Office.
WAYNE COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED TODAY FOR ASPHALT OVERLAY
Missouri Route 143 in Wayne County will be closed both today and tomorrow so crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation can overlay the road with asphalt.
The section of roadway to be closed is located north of Sam A. Baker Park to the Iron County Line.
Work is scheduled to be performed from 7 am to 4:30 pm both days.
