MAN SOUGHT IN CONNECTION TO SHOOTING IN CARTER COUNTY
One man is dead and another is being sought following a shooting in Carter County.
According to Carter County Sheriff Richard Stephens, deputies were dispatched to a residence on County Road 327 early Tuesday morning for a reported shooting.
Inside the residence, deputies found a 34 year old male deceased with an apparent gunshot wound. The identity of the victim has not been released.
Stephens says an extensive manhunt is ongoing for 44 year old Jason Roberts, who is being considered armed and dangerous. Roberts is described as a white male who was last seen wearing a black shirt and blue jean shorts.
Anyone who has information on Roberts’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Carter County Sheriff's Office at 573-323-4510.
DEXTER MAN ARRESTED ON WARRANTS FOR MULTIPLE CHARGES
A Dexter man has been taken into custody on multiple charges.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 32 year old Hobert Voss Jr. was recently arrested on warrants for furnishing pornographic material, statutory sodomy, statutory rape 1st degree, and rape or attempted rape 1st degree.
Officials say that Voss’s total bond was set at $40,000 and he remained in jail as of this morning.
ONE ARRESTED IN BUTLER COUNTY ON METH CHARGE
Authorities in Butler County have arrested an area man on a meth charge.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 31 year old Carl Hiles, of Poplar Bluff, was taken into custody Tuesday night on charges of possession of methamphetamine and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
Following the arrest, Hiles was held at the Butler County Jail.
POPLAR BLUFF CHURCH TO HOST BACK TO SCHOOL BASH
A Poplar Bluff church will be hosting a Back to School Bash later this month.
The event will be held on Saturday July 28th at the Southside Assembly of God on Midland Street.
Registration will begin at 4:30 pm with the bash starting at 5 pm. Officials say the first 100 visitors will get a free backpack.
The church will also be hosting a school supply give away at 10:30 am on Sunday, July 29th.
AUGUST POPLAR BLUFF CITY COUNCIL MEETING RESCHEDULED
The Poplar Bluff City Council has announced that one of its scheduled meetings for August has been moved back a week.
According to the Poplar Bluff City Hall Facebook page, the city council normally meets on the first and third Monday of the month.
However, due to a conflict with another meeting at the Black River Coliseum, the meeting originally scheduled for August 20th will now be held on August 28th.
BUTLER COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED TODAY FOR PAVEMENT REPAIRS
Route EE in Butler County will be closed both today and tomorrow so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can perform pavement repairs.
According to officials, the section of Route EE to be closed is located from Route 142 to County Road 260.
Weather permitting, work is scheduled to take place from 7 am to 5 pm both days.
