FIRE BREAKS OUT AT BUTLER COUNTY BUILDING LOCATED SOUTH OF POPLAR BLUFF
A fire broke out last night at a Butler County Highway Department building.
Crews were on scene putting out the fire at the structure located on Highway 67, south of Poplar Bluff.
There have been no reports of any injuries or a possible cause for the fire.
DATE SET FOR 16TH ANNUAL CHILD ABUSE AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CONFERENCE
A date has been set for a conference in Poplar Bluff to discuss domestic violence.
According to the Butler County Community Resource Council, the 16th Annual Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Conference has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 30th.
The conference will be held from 8:30 am to 2 pm at First United Methodist Church.
27TH ANNUAL OLD GREENVILLE DAYS SCHEDULED FOR NEXT WEEKEND
Preparations are underway for the 27th Annual Old Greenville Days.
According to the US Army of Corps of Engineers, the Greenville Campground Day Use area will be the location for the event from September 14th through the 16th.
There will be live music all weekend, along with craft and food vendors as well as games and activities.
The Wayne County Bicentennial Committee will also be on hand with historic displays, artifacts, and photos of Wayne County’s early days.
HEAVY RAINFALL CHANCES WITH STORMS TODAY
An incoming storm system will bring with it chances of heavy rainfall today in Southeast Missouri.
According to the National Weather Service, thunderstorm chances will peak during the heat of the afternoon today, and locally heavy rainfall will be the primary hazard associated with any storm that develops.
The remnants of tropical storm Gordon will highlight the thunderstorm threat beginning Friday and continuing through the weekend.
Weather officials say that rainfall totals of two to three inches will be possible for much of Southeast Missouri, with higher amounts possible further to the north and west.
THREE RIVERS COLLEGE TO HOST MEET THE RAIDERS NIGHT NEXT WEEK
The Three Rivers College athletic season is fast approaching and area residents will have the opportunity next week to meet some of the players who will be representing the Raiders this year.
The college is hosting “Meet the Raiders Night” on Monday, September 10th, beginning at 6 pm. Admission is free, with a meal ticket costing $5 for non-students.
The event will showcase the players and coaches for the Raiders basketball and baseball teams, the Lady Raiders basketball and softball teams, the rodeo team, and the cheer team.
DOGGIE SWIM DAY SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEKEND IN POPLAR BLUFF
Dog owners in Poplar Bluff are invited to bring their pooches to Huntington Pool this weekend for Doggie Swim Day.
The event, hosted by the Animal Welfare Alliance, is scheduled for 2 to 4 pm this Sunday.
Tickets are $1 and dogs in attendance must be leashed and up to date on vaccines.
