TWO ARRESTED IN CONNECTION TO NUMEROUS RECENT BURGLARIES

Authorities in Butler County have arrested two men following a pursuit earlier this week. Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs tells KWOC News that on Monday, he spotted an individual who had been developed as a suspect in numerous burglaries.

The subject, Marty Luke, of Greenville, was seen in a vehicle that had been spotted at a previous burglary. Luke drove to an area hotel and returned to his vehicle with another male subject, Donald Sanders, of Greenville. A traffic stop was attempted on the vehicle however the driver fled. Sanders threw jewelry, illegal narcotics, and a firearm out of a window of the vehicle during the pursuit.

As Luke was driving south on Westwood Boulevard, he attempted to abruptly turn onto PP highway. The vehicle went across the intersection, hit a small embankment, and vaulted into a grassy area where it came to rest. Dobbs says that both Luke and Sanders fled on foot but were soon caught by deputies. A deputy found numerous items of jewelry on Sanders’ person as well as along the path that Sanders had ran.

Dobbs says a search of a hotel room the two were staying at revealed numerous property items that were taken from recent burglaries. The Sheriff’s Office is working to identify the property and return it to its owners.

Dobbs say that it is believed that both men are responsible for 10 to 15 recent burglaries. Both men were transported to the Butler County Jail where they each remain on a $100,000 bond.
