WINTER WEATHER DRIVING TIPS

With the possibility of winter weather coming up this weekend, the Missouri State Highway Patrol is encouraging motorists to exercise caution while driving.

The patrol says that planning ahead can help in case of an emergency. Before you travel, make certain your vehicle is in good working condition.

The Highway Patrol suggests keeping your fuel tank at least half full. Place an ice scraper, tire chains, battery booster cables, blankets, flashlights, and a bag of sand or cat litter in your trunk.

Also, take the time to make sure the windows are completely cleared to ensure visibility and clear your driveway so that your vehicle enters the roadway safely. Allow extra driving time for you to reach your destination at a slow, safe speed.

Road conditions are available online by going to the Patrol’s website www.mshp.dps.mo.gov and clicking on the Road Condition icon.
