VEHICLE CATCHES FIRE FOLLOWING WRECK IN STODDARD COUNTY
A vehicle caught fire last night after being involved in a wreck in Stoddard County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 33 year old Dexter woman was driving in the Grayridge area when her vehicle ran off the road and struck a utility pole. The vehicle then caught fire.
The driver suffered serious injuries and was transported to a Cape Girardeau hospital.
RICHARDSON NAMED AS THREE RIVERS COLLEGE DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI
A former Speaker of the Missouri House of Representatives has been selected for the Three Rivers College Distinguished Alumni award.
The college announced earlier this week that Todd Richardson is the recipient of this year’s award.
Richardson is currently the Director of MO HealthNet. He previously served for seven years in the Missouri House of Representatives, representing District 152. For three of those years, he also served as Speaker of the House.
In addition to attending Three Rivers College, Richardson also taught Business Law and Government classes as an adjunct instructor.
A public reception will be held in his honor at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on Friday, April 5, beginning at 4:30 pm.
Richardson has also been selected as the Keynote Speaker for the Three Rivers College 2019 Commencement ceremony, which will be May 17 at the Libla Family Sports Complex.
VAN BUREN MAN ARRESTED ON ESCAPE WARRANT IN WAYNE COUNTY
Authorities in Wayne County have arrested an area man on a felony warrant.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 23 year old Corey Hause, of Van Buren, was arrested on a felony warrant out of Carter County for escape or attempted escape from confinement.
Following the arrest, Hause was held at the Wayne County Jail.
EVENT TO BE HELD TO ALLOW VOTERS TO MEET CANDIDATES FOR THE TWIN RIVERS SCHOOL BOARD
An event will be held later this month to give voters in the Twin Rivers School District a chance to learn more about candidates for the school board.
The Twin Rivers Board of Education Meet the Candidates night has been scheduled for 6 pm on Tuesday, March 19th at the Broseley Senior Community Center.
The event is being sponsored by the Twin Rivers Community Teachers Association.
CONTRACTS AWARDED FOR ROAD REPAIRS IN STODDARD AND CARTER COUNTIES
State officials say that contracts have been awarded for multiple upcoming road projects in Southeast Missouri.
The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission has awarded an over seven million dollar contract for pavement improvements on Routes 25 and Y in Stoddard County.
An almost $400,000 contract was also awarded for drainage repairs on Route Y in Carter County.
Additional information about the projects, including timelines and impacts to traffic, will be released prior to the start of construction.
RIPLEY COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED TODAY FOR PIPE REPLACEMENT
Route N in Ripley County will be closed today so crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation can replace a culvert pipe under the roadway.
The section of Route N to be closed is located at the junction of Route N and Route E.
Work is scheduled to take place today from 9 am to 2 pm.
