ACTION TO BE TAKEN ON NUMEROUS ITEMS DURING POPLAR BLUFF CITY COUNCIL MEETING TONIGHT
Numerous items are on the agenda for tonight at the Poplar Bluff City Council meeting.
During the meeting, the Council will review a recommendation from the Municipal Utilities Advisory Board regarding bids received for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade Project.
The council may also take action on multiple items, including ordinances related to the Airport Master Plan and Layout Plan as well as the City Hall and Police Department Project.
The council could also take action on a resolution stating intent to seek funding through the Community Development Block Grant Program and authorizing the Mayor to pursue activities in an attempt to secure funding.
The meeting is scheduled to begin tonight at 7 pm.
WOMAN DROWNS IN BLACK RIVER
An Arnold, Missouri woman drowned over the weekend while kayaking on Black River.
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 44 year old Vanessa Gutierrez struck a submerged log and was ejected from the kayak. She then became lodged against the log before being pulled under the water.
Officials say the incident occurred Saturday evening in Reynolds County.
TWO TEENAGERS INJURED IN DUNKLIN COUNTY ATV WRECK
Two Kennett teenagers were injured late Sunday night in an ATV wreck in Dunklin County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 17 and a 14 year old boy were both driving ATVs on Route EE near Kennett when one struck the other causing both vehicles to overturn and eject the drivers.
The 17 year old boy suffered serious injuries and was flown to a Memphis hospital. The 14 year old boy received moderate injuries and was transported to a Hayti hospital.
MALDEN CITY CLEAN UP EVENT SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEK
The Annual Malden Citywide Cleanup event is scheduled to begin today.
The cleanup will run from 8 am to 4 pm daily through Wednesday.
Officials say this is a curbside pickup only and all items must be at the curb by 8 am on the scheduled day.
Acceptable items for pick up include appliances, furniture, mattresses, toys, and more.

STODDARD COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED TODAY FOR PAVEMENT REPAIRS
A Stoddard County road will be closed beginning today for pavement repairs.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, Route H in Stoddard County will be closed from Route ZZ to County Road 607 for the repairs.
Weather permitting, work will take place today and tomorrow from 7 am to 4:30 pm.
BRIDGE MAINTENANCE TO CAUSE DELAYS TODAY IN WAYNE COUNTY
Southbound Route 67 in Wayne County will be reduced to one lane today so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can perform bridge maintenance.
MoDOT officials tell KWOC News that the bridge involved is located over Frazier Creek near Silva, Mo.
Work will take place today from 7 am to 4:30 pm.
