TORNADOES STRIKE MULTIPLE COMMUNITIES IN MISSOURI
Multiple tornadoes struck communities in Missouri last night, including one hitting the state’s capital.
The National Weather Service says that a "violent tornado" touched down in Jefferson City, causing heavy damage Wednesday night.
The service reported that a "confirmed large and destructive tornado" was observed over Jefferson City at 11:43 pm, moving northeast at 40 mph.
Another tornado was located just a few miles north of Joplin on the eighth anniversary of a tornado that killed 161 people in the city. The tornado caused damage in the town of Carl Junction.
TWO DONIPHAN RESIDENTS ARRESTED ON METH CHARGES
Two Doniphan residents were taken into custody Wednesday evening in Ripley County on meth charges.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 43 year old Jennifer Odom was arrested shortly after 6:30 pm on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute - methamphetamine.
Authorities also arrested 42 year old Jerry Roberts on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.
SEVERAL FACILITIES AT WAPPAPELLO LAKE CLOSED DUE TO HIGH WATER
Officials at Wappapello Lake say that high water has forced the closure of several facilities.
The lake level was measured at over 375 feet this morning and officials say the lake is predicted to crest at less than 377 feet on or near Saturday.
High water has caused the closure of Peoples Creek Recreation Area and Lower Campground, Snow Creek Campground, Redman, Rockwood, and Peoples Beaches, as well as several boat ramps.

DONIPHAN WOMAN ARRESTED ON FELONY DRUG RELATED CHARGES
Authorities in Ripley County have arrested an area woman on felony drug related charges.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 23 year old Lakeisha Brooks, of Doniphan, was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Following the arrest, Brooks was held at the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office.
PAVEMENT REPAIR PROJECT UNDERWAY IN NEW MADRID COUNTY
Route 61 in New Madrid County is being reduced to one lane with an 11-foot width restriction through late next month as contractor crews perform milling and paving repairs.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the section of Route 61 to be reduced is located from Route 55 at New Madrid to Route 55 at Portageville.
Weather permitting, work will performed from 6 am to 6 pm daily through Saturday, June 29th.
STREET TO BE CLOSED TODAY IN MALDEN
Malden city officials say an area street will be closed today for repairs.
According to the City of Malden Facebook page, Arnold Street will be closed to fix a trench that was cut in the street near the Headstart building.
Work will begin sometime this morning. Officials say the street will be opened back up to traffic by 5 pm on Friday.
