MAN FACING TAMPERING CHARGE AFTER ALLEGEDLY INTERRUPTING SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT RADIO FREQUENCY

A local man has been taken into custody for allegedly interrupting an area sheriff’s department’s radio frequency.

Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs tells KWOC News that the radios for the Sheriff’s Department have not been working for several weeks. There was a lot of static coming over the radios which would not allow deputies to communicate with each other.

An investigation led authorities to a residence in Fisk that contained a radio along with a radio blocker. A member of the Poplar Bluff Severe Weather Response Team assisted with the investigation.

57 year old Larry McKuin, of Fisk, was arrested and is being charged with tampering with judicial proceeding. McKuin was lodged in the Butler County Justice Center.

VEHICLE COLLISION IN BUTLER COUNTY INJURES TWO PEOPLE

Two people were transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital yesterday following a collision in Butler County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 82 year old Kirchel Lamaster, of Doniphan, allegedly pulled into the path of another vehicle on Highway 67 at Route C.

Lamaster suffered serious injuries in the wreck, while a passenger in his vehicle received minor injuries. No injuries were listed for the occupants of the second vehicle.

BIG WEEKEND PLANNED FOR THE RIPLEY COUNTY FAIR

Multiple events are on the schedule this weekend at the Ripley County Fair.

The fairgrounds will open to the public at 2 pm today and 8 am on Saturday.

Events for tonight include the carnival, karaoke, and the bull bust.

Attractions planned for Saturday include the Key Club Pancake Breakfast, the car and tractor shows, a benefit auction, and the Purman Fire Department Fish Fry, among others.

DISNEY CLASSIC TO BE PERFORMED IN POPLAR BLUFF

A stage adaptation of a classic Disney movie is coming to Poplar Bluff.

Beginning tonight, the Three Rivers College community theater group, Center Stage, will be performing “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on the TRC campus.

Tickets are $10 and available at the Tinnin Center Art Gallery, and online at tinnin.ticketleap.com.

Performances will be held at 7 pm tonight and on September 7th, 13th, and 14th. There will also be 2 pm showings on September 7th, 8th, 14th, and 15th.

WAPPAPELLO MAN INJURED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK

A Wappapello man was injured Thursday morning in a single vehicle wreck.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 76 year old David Bland was driving on Route Z in Wayne County when his vehicle ran off the side of the road and struck a tree.

Officials say the wreck occurred east of County Road 515 at around 7:15 am.

Bland suffered serious injuries in the wreck and was transported by ambulance to an area hospital.

THREE RIVERS SHRINE RODEO SET FOR TONIGHT IN POPLAR BLUFF

The Three Rivers Shrine Club’s 12th Annual Pro Rodeo is set for this weekend in Poplar Bluff.

The event will begin at 7pm both tonight and Saturday at the Black River Coliseum.

Doors will be open at 6 pm and tickets will be available to purchase at the door.

All proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Three Rivers Shrine Club.
