OVER 70 ACTIVE CASES OF COVID-19 AT POPLAR BLUFF VA MEDICAL CENTER

There have been over 320 cases of the coronavirus reported at the Poplar Bluff VA Medical Center.

According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, the local John J. Pershing VA Medical Center has reported 327 total cases of the virus at the facility. Of them, 77 are active, and 10 deaths have been caused by the disease.

Of the 77 cases that are currently active, 69 are veterans, and eight are from employees of the center.


SERIOUS INJURIES REPORTED FROM VEHICLE COLLISION IN PEMISCOT COUNTY

Serious injuries were reported after three vehicles collided in Pemiscot County on Wednesday.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that the collision happened when a vehicle was struck in the rear by another car on Missouri 84 at Hayti, causing it to cross the centerline of the roadway, and strike a third vehicle.

The driver of the first vehicle was seriously injured, and was transported to a hospital in Dyersburg, Tennessee. The driver and an infant occupant of the second vehicle suffered minor injuries, and were transported to a Hayti hospital for treatment.


ROADWAY IN STODDARD COUNTY CLOSING FOR PAVEMENT REPAIRS

A roadway in Stoddard County will be closed while undergoing repairs.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, a section of Route N, from Route 60 to County Road 554, will be closed while MODOT crews perform pavement repairs on the roadway.

The work will begin on Friday, and is expected to run from 7 am to 3 pm.


BUTLER COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT HOSTING DRIVE-THROUGH FLU CLINIC TODAY

The Butler County Health Department will be holding a drive-through flu clinic today.

According to the department, the clinic will be at their building at 1619 North Main Street, and will be open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, weather permitting. To get a flu shot, you must be 10 years or older.

FORMERLY MISSING JONESBORO WOMAN REPORTED FOUND SAFE

Updating a story we brought to you previously, a formerly missing Jonesboro woman has been found safe.

The Jonesboro Police Department announced on Tuesday that Jonesboro resident Peggy Edwards was reported as missing, and that she was last seen leaving a home in the city. At the time, she was known to be heading towards Cardwell Missouri, as well as Paragould Arkansas.

The department has not revealed where she was found, though it is known that she never arrived in Paragould.

TWO JUVENILES INJURED FOLLOWING VEHICLE CRASH IN NEW MADRID COUNTY

Two injuries were injured in a vehicle crash in New Madrid County on Wednesday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened on Route AA, 5 miles south of Sikeston, where a vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a ditch, causing it to overturn.

Both the driver and an occupant of the vehicle, both juveniles, suffered minor injuries from the crash, and were transported to a Cape Girardeau hospital for treatment.

DRIVE THROUGH FOOD DISTRIBUTION BEING HELD IN POPLAR BLUFF

A local church will be holding a drive-through food distribution event today.

The drive will be hosted by the Southeast Missouri Food Bank, and will be located in the First Baptist Church’s Parking lot at 551 North Westwood Boulevard.

Participants are being asked to remember social distancing and safety precautions while attending the drive through to avoid any potential spread of the coronavirus.
