NEELYVILLE MAN CHARGED ON ASSAULT AND WEAPON OFFENSES AFTER OPENING FIRE ON TEEN
A Neelyville man has been charged with assault and weapon offenses after he opened fire on a teenager on Sunday.
Officials with the Butler County Sheriff's Department tell KWOC News that 63 year old James Young was charged with felony 1st degree assault, as well as endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful use of a weapon.
These charges stem from an investigation made by the department, which found that Young had shot at a 15 year old who was retrieving animal traps from his family’s property. While disarming the traps, the teen heard a gunshot and could hear a bullet pass by his head. He then ran to safety, and proceeded to contact authorities.
During an interview following the incident, Young admitted to shooting at the teen with a .22 caliber rifle, stating that one of the animal traps caught and hurt his dog.
Young is currently being held at the Butler County Jail on these offenses, with a $100,000 cash or surety bond.
WOMAN ARRESTED IN WAYNE COUNTY ON DRUG POSSESSION AND RESISTING ARREST
A woman was taken into custody in Wayne County on Saturday on drug possession and resisting arrest.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, 46 year old Tommye White, of Mill Spring, was charged on a felony warrant out of Wayne County for possession of a controlled substance, as well as a felony charge on resisting arrest.
Following her arrest, she was transported to the Wayne County Jail.
DRIVER INJURED FOLLOWING VEHICLE COLLISION IN PEMISCOT COUNTY
A driver was injured following a vehicle collision in Pemiscot County on Tuesday.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision happened when a vehicle was struck in the rear on US 61 in Holland while stopped to make a left turn. The impact caused the car to run off the right side of the roadway and strike a mailbox.
The driver of the oncoming vehicle suffered moderate injuries as a result of the incident, and was transported to a hospital in Dyersburg, Tennessee for treatment.
POPLAR BLUFF POLICE DEPARTMENT SEARCHING FOR PERSON OF INTEREST
The Poplar Bluff Police Department is currently searching for the whereabouts of a suspect.
Few details are being released at this time, however the department has stated that they are searching for Ryan Helsel, who is a person of interest in an ongoing investigation being made by the department. A picture of him is available on the Poplar Bluff Police Department’s Facebook page.

POPLAR BLUFF MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN BUTLER COUNTY ON SEVERAL CHARGES
A Poplar Bluff resident was arrested in Butler County on Tuesday on multiple charges.
According to the Butler County Sheriff’s Department, 38 year old Christopher Wilson was taken into custody on a felony probation warrant on possession of a controlled substance, a Butler County warrant on resisting arrest, and the felony charges of possession of methamphetamine, and resisting arrest.
He was also charged on multiple vehicle offenses.
He was transported to the Butler County Jail following his arrest, with no bond.
ROADWAY IN STODDARD COUNTY SCHEDULED TO CLOSE FOR MAINTENANCE
A roadway in Stoddard County will be closed today while undergoing repairs.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, a section of Route ZZ, between Route 60 and County Road 612, will be closed while MODOT crews replace a culvert underneath the roadway.
The work will start today at 7 am, and is expected to be completed by 3 pm.
