BUTLER COUNTY COURTHOUSE ENFORCING FACE COVERING RULE AFTER EMPLOYEES TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID-19

The Butler County Courthouse is now requiring visitors to wear face coverings, after employees tested positive for the coronavirus.

The decision was made by presiding Circuit Judge Michael Pritchett on Saturday, after four courthouse employees tested positive for the virus last week. Starting today, anyone who wants to enter the courthouse is required to wear a mask while inside the building.

The face mask requirement will continue until further notice by the Court.

16 YEAR OLD TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN STODDARD COUNTY ON MURDER CHARGE

A 16 year old from Jonesboro was arrested in Stoddard County in connection to a murder case.

Few details are available at this time, however officials with the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department report that the 16 year old was booked on a 2nd degree murder charge, as well as 1st degree burglary, and 1st degree robbery.

He is currently being held at the Stoddard County Jail, on no bond.

DRIVER INJURED FROM VEHICLE CRASH IN WAYNE COUNTY

A driver suffered moderate injuries from a vehicle crash in Wayne County on Saturday.

According to officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a vehicle was traveling down State Highway TT, north of Highway Z, where it struck debris and traveled off the right side of the roadway, ejecting the driver.

Following the crash, the elderly driver was flown to a Cape Girardeau hospital for treatment.

FISK MAN DROWNED IN THE BLACK RIVER IN BUTLER COUNTY

A Fisk man was found drowned in the Black River in Butler County on Saturday.

Butler County Coroner Andy Moore tells KWOC News, that 18 year old James Muller drowned in the river after swinging from a rope into the water, where he began to struggle and did not resurface after he submerged.

His body was found in the river, near the intersection of County Roads 608 and 611, close to the Dan River Access.


ELEVEN NEW CASES OF COVID-19 REPORTED IN BUTLER COUNTY; MISSOURI TOTAL NOW OVER 27,000

Eleven additional cases of the coronavirus were confirmed in Butler County over the weekend, while Missouri’s total cases have reached over 27,000.

According to the Butler County Health Department, there are now 130 total cases of the virus in the County, and the new patients have been put under self-quarantine. The department will be working with the CDC to contact anyone who may have been exposed to the disease while the patients were active and infectious.

In Missouri, as of Sunday, there are a total of 27,443 cases of the virus in the state, and 1,069 deaths have been directly linked to the disease.

If you are showing any symptoms of the disease, including fever, shortness of breath, or persistent coughing, you are advised to contact your primary healthcare provider before visiting any hospital or emergency room.

TWO WOMEN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN NEW MADRID COUNTY ON DRUG AND WEAPON POSSESSION

Two Chicago women were arrested on Sunday for drug and weapon possession charges.

Officials with the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department tell KWOC News that 29 year old Ni Chael Dunnorm, and 30 year old Raymonia Oneal were booked on two felony charges on possession of a controlled substance – ecstasy and marijuana.

Oneal was also charged with felony possession of a weapon.

They were both transported to the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department following their arrests.
