MISSOURI GOVERNOR ASKING FOR RETURN OF COVID-19 VACCINE FROM SOME PHARMACIES
Missouri Governor Mike Parson is asking for the return of the coronavirus vaccine from some pharmacies in the state to give a boost to the vaccine’s distribution.
According to the governor’s spokeswoman, Kelli Jones, the administration already has requested the return of 25,000 doses from CVS and Walgreens, which would then be re-routed to county health departments, medical hospitals and clinics, local pharmacies, and other state-approved vaccinators.
CVS and Walgreens were tasked with providing vaccinations at long-term care facilities, and Jones says the new plan won’t affect shots for workers and residents at those facilities.
SOUTHEAST MISSOURI PRISON PLACED ON LOCKDOWN FOLLOWING ATTACK BY INMATES
A Southeast Missouri prison was placed on lockdown Tuesday following an attack by multiple inmates.
According to the Missouri Department of Corrections, a suspected 13 inmates assaulted eight staff members for about 10 minutes at the Southeast Correctional Center in Charleston.
Seven of the staff members were taken to area hospitals for treatment.
The suspected inmates were placed in administrative segregation.
ROAD PROJECT TO CAUSE DELAYS TODAY IN DUNKLIN COUNTY
Crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation will be in Dunklin County today for repairs on Highway 53.
According to MoDOT, Highway 53 will be reduced to one lane between County Road 332 and County Road 322 near Holcomb so crews can repair the bridge over Indian Camp Slough.
Work is scheduled to take place from 7 AM to 3:30 PM.
DEXTER MAN ARRESTED ON STODDARD COUNTY WARRANT
Authorities in Stoddard County have arrested a Dexter man on a warrant for multiple charges.
Officials with the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department tell KWOC News that 35 year old Tony Ellis Jr. was recently arrested on a Stoddard County warrant for charges including resisting or interfering with an arrest or stop, possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Following the arrest, Ellis was held at the Stoddard County Jail.
MODOT ASKING FOR PUBLIC’S INPUT ON FUTURE INTERSTATE-57 PROJECT
The Missouri Department of Transportation is asking for the public’s input on a project to convert a portion of US Route 67 to Interstate 57 in Butler County.
The Future I-57 project would include upgrading 10 miles of Route 67 to four lanes on a new alignment from the Route 160 interchange to two miles north of the Arkansas Stateline.
As a part of the planning stage, the City of Poplar Bluff and MoDOT have reevaluated the Route 67 Environmental Impact Statement from 2005. The reevaluation is available at modot.org/FutureI57.
The website also gives visitors the opportunity to sign-up to receive project updates and share their thoughts.
POPLAR BLUFF CHURCH TO HOST MEAL GIVEAWAY THIS WEEKEND
A Poplar Bluff church will be hosting a meal giveaway event this weekend.
Fellowship Church will be giving out hot meals and some non-perishable food items beginning at 4:30 pm on Sunday.
Officials say that this will be a drive-thru, non contact community event.
Fellowship Church is located at 3581 North Westwood Boulevard in Poplar Bluff.
