The date has been announced for the annual winter drawdown at Wappapello Lake.

According to the United States Army Corps of Engineers, the drawdown from recreation pool to conservation pool will begin on December 15th.

Officials say the lake level is drawn down five feet, from 359.74 feet to 354.74 feet, which allows for additional storage of winter and spring precipitation.

During the conservation pool, boaters are urged to use caution when on the lake as mud flats and tree stumps may be exposed or be just under the water surface.

Anyone with questions concerning the annual winter drawdown is asked to contact the Wappapello Lake Management Office at 573-222-8562.
