MISSING TEENAGER LAST SEEN ON THURSDAY IN RIPLEY COUNTY 

A missing teenager was reportedly seen last week in Ripley County.

According to the Oregon County Sheriff’s Office, 17 year old John Scott was last seen on Thursday afternoon on Highway 160 in the area of Route V walking towards Doniphan.  

Scott is described as a white male, five foot, three inches tall, weighing 120 pounds with brown hair.

CAMPBELL CAMELS WIN BOYS CLASS 2 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

The Campbell Camels are state basketball champions.

Campbell defeated the Salisbury Panthers on Friday, 67 to 50, to claim the Boys Class 2 State Championship.

According to the Missouri State High School Activities Association, this is the first state basketball title in Campbell’s history.

In other Southeast Missouri Boys Basketball action on Friday, Poplar Bluff fell to Chaminade College Prep 69-55 in the Class 6 State Quarterfinal. In the Class 4 State Quarterfinal, New Madrid County Central was eliminated by Vashon 72-52.


MONTANA MAN KILLED IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI WRECK

A Montana man was killed in a single vehicle wreck Friday in Southeast Missouri.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a vehicle, driven by 57 year old Michael Pepper, of Helena, Montana, ran off the side of Southbound Interstate 55 and struck a concrete wall.

The wreck occurred shortly after noon at the 72 mile marker.

Officials say that Pepper was pronounced dead at the scene. 


POPLAR BLUFF POLICE ASK FOR PUBLIC’S HELP IN FIRE INVESTIGATION

Updating a story we brought to you last week, authorities in Poplar Bluff are asking for the public’s assistance in a fire investigation.

According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, on the evening of March 6th, an individual intentionally set fire to a residence on West Victor Street. That fire resulted in extensive damage to neighboring structures including Quality Tech Transmissions.

The police department has released surveillance footage of the incident which is currently available on the Poplar Bluff Police Department Facebook page.

Anyone who has information in connection to the fire is being asked to contact Detective Dan Mustain at 573-686-8632.

 

MISSOURI TO ACTIVATE NEXT PHASE OF COVID VACCINATIONS TODAY

The state of Missouri will enter the next phase of the Covid-19 vaccine rollout today.

Missouri Governor Mike Parson announced last month that Phase 1B - Tier 3 of the state’s COVID-19 Vaccine Plan will be activated on March 15th.

Beginning today, Missourians in Phase 1B - Tier 3 will be eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. This includes K through 12 educators and school employees; child care providers; grocery store employees; and energy, food, agriculture, and other critical infrastructure workers, among others.

Approximately 550,000 more Missourians will be eligible for the vaccine. Missourians in Phase 1A and Phase 1B - Tier 1 and Tier 2 will also remain eligible.

BRIDGE REPAIR CAUSES CLOSURE OF STODDARD COUNTY ROAD

A road in both Stoddard and New Madrid Counties has been closed for bridge repairs.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, Route W is closed from Route Z in Stoddard County to Route E in New Madrid County so contractor crews can perform bridge repairs to Drainage Ditch #1.

Weather permitting, the project is anticipated to be finished by Wednesday, June 30th.
