POPLAR BLUFF MAN SENTENCED FOR ASSAULT IN DUNKLIN COUNTY JAIL
A Poplar Bluff man has been sentenced in connection to an assault at the Dunklin County Jail.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office, 46 year old Shederic Anderson was sentenced yesterday to 36 years in prison for two counts of aggravated sexual abuse.
Officials say that in July of 2018, Anderson escaped from the Cydkam Center in Neelyville by signing out of the facility to go to work and never returning. Anderson was later arrested and detained in the Dunklin County Jail. While in the Dunklin County Jail he sexually assaulted another inmate.
A jury found Anderson guilty of the charges in November 2019.
IRS ANNOUNCES NEW TAX FILING DEADLINE

The IRS announced Wednesday that it will delay the traditional April 15th tax filing due date until May 17th to cope with added duties and provide Americans more flexibility.
The decision postpones when individual taxpayers must file their return and when their payment is due. The IRS said taxpayers who owe money would not face any further penalties or interest if they pay by May 17th.
VACCINE CLINIC SCHEDULED FOR TODAY IN POPLAR BLUFF
A COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic has been scheduled for today in Poplar Bluff.
The Saint Francis Health Center will be hosting the clinic from 9 am to 3 pm at the Black River Ambulatory Surgery Center on Physicians Park Drive.
Individuals in Phase 1B – Tier 3 and all earlier tiers are eligible for the vaccine. To schedule an appointment, call 573-381-5958.
BULKY ITEMS TO BE PICKED UP MONTHLY IN POPLAR BLUFF
With spring on the way and many people doing spring cleaning projects, Poplar Bluff officials are reminding city residents that the city offers bulky item pickups once a month.
Residents can purchase bulk item tags from the city collector’s office at city hall for $20. The tags entitles you to the removal of four bulk items, such as couches or refrigerators. Tires may be collected for a charge of $3 per tire with a limit of four tires.
No construction materials or small items will be picked up and the program is for residential areas only.
Officials say the Pick Up days will be on the second Tuesday of every month.
EARTHQUAKE SHAKES SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
A small earthquake shook parts of Southeast Missouri on Wednesday.
According to the United States Geological Survey, a 2.0 magnitude earthquake was recorded at approximately 10 am Wednesday.
The earthquake was centered around two and a half miles south of New Madrid and had a depth of almost three miles.
STODDARD COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED TODAY FOR REPAIRS
Crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation will be in Stoddard County today to replace a culvert under Route N.
According to officials, Route N will be closed from 8 am to 3 pm both today and tomorrow for the project.
The work zone will be located between Route AB and County Road 530.
