MISSING DEXTER MAN FOUND SAFE 

Updating a story we brought to you yesterday, authorities in Dexter say that a missing man has been found. 

According to the Dexter Police Department, 46 year old Cesar Garcia Marcelo had last been on Friday March 16th and was reported missing on Tuesday. 

Few details have been released, but according to a post on the Dexter Police Department’s Facebook page, Marcelo has been located and is safe.


PUXICO WOMAN ARRESTED ON METH CHARGE IN NEW MADRID COUNTY 

An area woman has been taken into custody in New Madrid County on felony drug charges. 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 30 year old Samantha Hurdle, of Puxico, was arrested Wednesday on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine. 

Hurdle is also reportedly facing a felony charge possession of a controlled substance – hydrocodone. Following the arrest, she was booked and later released.


MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN SINGLE VEHICLE WRECK IN RIPLEY COUNTY

An area man was seriously injured Wednesday morning in a single vehicle wreck in Ripley County.

Officials with the Ripley County Sheriff’s Department tell KWOC news that 35 year old Michael Shannon, of Naylor, was driving on Highway B in the Naylor area when his vehicle ran off the side of the road, struck a mailbox, and then overturned. 

Shannon suffered serious injuries in the wreck and was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital.


TWO KILLED, SIX INJURED INCLUDING FOUR CHILDREN IN SIKESTON WRECK 

Two area residents have died in connection to a wreck Tuesday evening in Scott County. 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when 36 year old Leslie Spears of Sikeston, crossed the centerline and struck another vehicle head on near South Main and Virginia Street. 

Officials say the wreck occurred at around 6 pm in Sikeston. 

A passenger in Spear’s vehicle, 27 year old Kainan Deprow, of Sikeston, was pronounced dead at the scene. Leslie Spears along with a young child suffered serious injuries and were airlifted to a St. Louis Hospital. 

An occupant of the second vehicle, 53 year old Charles Jones, of Mounds, Illinois, was also pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle along with three juvenile children were seriously injured and all were airlifted to area hospitals.


MAN ARRESTED ON FELONY DRUG CHARGES IN BUTLER COUNTY 

A Nebraska man has been taken into custody in Butler County on felony drug charges. 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 24 year old Josephine Latner of Omaha Nebraska, was arrested Wednesday afternoon on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance – hydrocodone, methamphetamine, and possession of a controlled substance – marijuana. 

Latner is also facing a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Following the arrest, he was held at the Butler County Jail.


INTERSTATE REPAIRS SET FOR THIS WEEK IN NEW MADRID COUNTY

Southbound Interstate 55 in New Madrid County will be reduced to one lane with a 16-foot width restriction this week so Missouri Department of Transportation crews can perform bridge repairs. 

According to MoDOT, the work zone will be located between mile markers 42 and 40, near Marston. 

Weather permitting, work will take place from 7 am to 5 pm daily through tomorrow.
