THREE RIVERS EARNS TEN SEED IN NJCAA DIVISION ONE SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Three Rivers College’s road to a national championship in softball will begin on Tuesday in Yuma, Arizona.

The Lady Raiders have earned a 10 seed in the NJCAA Division 1 Softball Championship and will face 7 seed Yavapai College, out of Prescott, Arizona.

First pitch is scheduled for 8 pm on Tuesday.

The tournament is double elimination, so win or lose, Three Rivers will play either 2 seed Butler Community College or 15 seed Trinity Valley Community College on Wednesday.

VACCINE CLINIC SET FOR TODAY IN BUTLER COUNTY

A Covid 19 Vaccine Clinic is set for today in Butler County.

The Butler County Health Department is teaming up with the Missouri National Guard for the clinic, which is scheduled for 9 am to 1 pm at the Poplar Bluff Elks Lodge.

The clinic is for anyone 18 years of age or older who is needing the first or second dose of the Moderna Vaccine.

Officials say that no appointment will be necessary. Anyone with questions can contact the Butler County Health Department at 573-785-8478.

 

PORTION OF CURRENT RIVER CLOSED DUE TO HIGH WATER LEVELS 

A portion of Current River in Southeast Missouri has been closed due to elevated water levels.

According to Ozark National Scenic Riverways, the lower Current River is closed to all non-motorized vessels from Logyard to Gooseneck because of the water levels.

Officials say that dangers include high volumes of swiftly flowing water, muddy conditions making submerged hazards hard to spot, and gravel bars being underwater, making it difficult for floaters to self-rescue if capsized.

GROUNDBREAKING HELD FOR NEW PEANUT PROCESSING PLANT IN KENNETT

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday for a new peanut processing plant that is coming to Southeast Missouri.

Delta Peanut will be investing more than 50 million dollars for the facility in Kennett that is expected to create nearly 50 new jobs.

Delta Peanut is a farmer owned company that serves peanut farmers in Missouri, Arkansas, and Louisiana. The Kennett facility will be the company’s second processing plant and the first located in Missouri.

BACK THE BLUE EVENT SCHEDULED FOR TODAY IN POPLAR BLUFF

A Back the Blue event has been scheduled for today in Poplar Bluff to benefit the Shop with a Hero program.

Officials with the Poplar Bluff Police and Fire Departments, the Butler County Sheriff’s Department, Butler County EMS, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol will be at River Radio from 10 am to 2 pm today.

Food for the event, including hamburgers and wings, will be provided by Buffalo Wild Wings.

Shirts will be available to purchase for $20 with all proceeds going to the Shop with a Hero program. 

OVER TWO MONTH LONG BRIDGE PROJECT TO BEGIN TODAY IN WAYNE COUNTY

An over two month long bridge replacement project is scheduled to begin today in Wayne County.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, Route A in Wayne County will be closed so contractor crews can replace the bridge over Small Creek between U.S. Route 67 and County Road 400.

Officials say the project is anticipated to be complete by Monday, August 2nd. A signed detour will be in place.

SKATING COMPETITION SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEKEND IN POPLAR BLUFF

Poplar Bluff will be hosting a skating competition this weekend.

Fifty Fifty Fest 2021 will be held on Saturday at the Poplar Bluff Skate Plaza.

There will be a skate competition, live music, food trucks, and vendors. The all ages event is free to attend.
