AREA RESIDENT TO RETIRE AFTER 55 YEAR CAREER IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI AND NORTHEAST ARKANSAS

A familiar face for anyone who uses John Deere products in Southeast Missouri is calling it a career.

Sherman Thomas is retiring after 55 years of John Deere Product Support in Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas.

A celebration of Thomas will be held this Friday from 10 am to 1 pm at Greenway Equipment on Route B outside of Poplar Bluff. Anyone can stop by the store and wish Thomas well in his retirement. 

90 NEW CASES OF COVID-19 REPORTED IN BUTLER COUNTY

New cases of COVID-19 continue to increase in Butler County.

According to the Butler County Health Department, there are 90 new COVID-19 cases in the county, bringing the total active cases to 96.

This is over double the reported 43 new cases from last week.

According to the Missouri Department of Health, only 24.3 percent of Missouri residents have received the initial vaccine shot, while 21.1 percent have completed the vaccination process.

VIRTUAL HEARING SCHEDULED TO DISCUSS FUTURE INTERSTATE 57 IN BUTLER COUNTY

A virtual public hearing has been scheduled for next month to discuss the project to upgrade US Route 67 in Butler County.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the hearing will be held from 4 to 6 pm on Tuesday, August 3rd, with a formal presentation beginning at 4 and then being repeated at 5 pm.

Throughout the online hearing, there will be opportunities for attendees to ask questions or share comments.

The proposed project includes upgrading Route 67 to interstate standards from the Route 160/158 interchange south of Poplar Bluff to the Missouri/Arkansas state line.

DATE ANNOUNCED FOR 2021 POPLAR BLUFF WALK TO END ALZHEIMERS

A date has been announced for the 2021 Poplar Bluff Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

The event will be held on Saturday, October 2nd at McLane Park. Registration will begin at 9 am followed by a ceremony at 10 am. The walk will begin at 10:30 am.

The Walk to End Alzheimer's is the world's largest fundraiser for Alzheimer's care, support and research and is held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide.

FEED AND SEED EVENT SET FOR TODAY IN POPLAR BLUFF

New Day Ministry in Poplar Bluff will be hosting a feed and seed event today.

The event is from 3 to 5 pm and is first come, first serve, with packs limited to one per household.

New Day Ministry is located at 703 Franklin Street in Poplar Bluff.

ROUTE CC IN STODDARD COUNTY TO BE REDUCED TODAY FOR REPAIRS

Route CC in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.

According to officials, the work zone is located from Route 114 to Route A.

Weather permitting, work will take place both today and Monday, July 19th from 7:30 am to 4 pm each day.
