MAN IN CUSTODY FOR 1ST DEGREE MURDER IN SHANNON COUNTY

A man has surrendered to authorities in connection to a death investigation in Shannon County.

According to the Shannon County Sheriff’s Office, on the evening of January 13th, a report was made of a male who was found deceased in a yard.

At the scene, deputies found the body of 48 year old David Alley, of Eminence. An investigation led to authorities discovering a potential person of interest in the case.

On January 14th, 33 year old Everett Stubbert, of Eminence, turned himself over to authorities and admitted to the murder.

Officials say that Stubbert has been charged with 1st degree murder and armed criminal action.

KENNETT POLICE SEARCHING FOR MISSING MAN

Officials in Kennett are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing man.

Few details about the investigation have been made available but according to the Kennett Police Department, they are searching for Rodney A. Mitchell, who has not had contact with his family in multiple days.

POPLAR BLUFF AG CONNECT 2022 CANCELLED

Ag Connect in Poplar Bluff will not be held this year.

The Poplar Bluff Ag Connect Facebook page announced on Friday that due to rising COVID-19 cases in the area, the event, originally scheduled for January 21st and 22nd, has been cancelled.

COUNTRY MUSIC SUPERSTAR TO BE PERFORMING IN POPLAR BLUFF IN APRIL

A country music superstar is coming to Poplar Bluff in mid-April.

Gary Allen will be performing at the Black River Coliseum on Thursday, April 14th, beginning at 7:30 pm.

POPLAR BLUFF GOOD SAMARITANS ASSIST POLICE WITH ARRESTS

Poplar Bluff police say that there have been two recent incidents where area citizens assisted with arrests.

On December 28th, an officer was attempting to arrest a suspect during a domestic assault investigation on Shelby Road.  During the arrest, the suspect began to resist and three Good Samaritans assisted in restraining the suspect until handcuffs could be applied.

On January 7th, officers were conducting a narcotics investigation on North Westwood Boulevard when a suspect ran from the scene on foot. A Good Samaritan apprehended the suspect and held him until handcuffs could be applied.

Captain J.R. Keirsey with the Poplar Bluff Police Department tells KWOC News that although the Police Department does not condone civilian involvement in criminal investigations, they would like to thank these individuals for their actions.

WAPPAPELLO MAN ARRESTED ON FLEEING CHARGE IN BUTLER COUNTY

A Wappapello man was taken into custody Friday night on a fleeing charge.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 60 year old Jon Hise was arrested shortly after 7 pm Friday on multiple charges including resisting arrest by fleeing, speeding, driving while revoked, and failure to yield to emergency equipment.

Following the arrest, Hise was held at the Butler County Jail.
