ONE INJURED IN MOTORCYCLE WRECK NEAR GATEWOOD

An Arkansas man has been flown to an area hospital following a motorcycle wreck in Ripley County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 51 year old Edwards Foster, of Williford, Arkansas, was driving a motorcycle on Highway 142, near Gatewood, when his vehicle ran off the side of the road and overturned.

Foster suffered serious injuries in the wreck and was flown to a Jonesboro hospital. 

CHEERLEADERS HONORED BY POPLAR BLUFF SCHOOL BOARD

The state champion Poplar Bluff Mules competitive Cheerleading team was recently honored by the Poplar Bluff Board of Education.

The Mules won the 2021 Missouri Cheerleading Coaches Association Class 4 Small Squad State Championship, which was held in Cape Girardeau last month.

The team was recognized during the Board of Education meeting last week for bringing home the state championship.

APPLICATIONS TO START NEXT MONTH FOR MDC MANAGED TURKEY HUNTS

Applications are set to begin next month for the upcoming managed turkey hunt.

Missouri Department of Conservation officials say that Missouri turkey hunters can apply online during February for the 2022 spring managed turkey hunts at mdc.mo.gov.

Drawing results will be posted starting March 15th.

The spring turkey hunting youth portion will be April 9th and 10th with the regular spring season running April 18th through May 8th.

PIEDMONT TO HOST PUBLIC HEARING TO DISCUSS IMPROVEMENTS AT AREA PARK

The city of Piedmont will be holding a public hearing next month to discuss improvements at an area park.

A public hearing is scheduled for 4:45 pm on February 8th at the Piedmont City Hall to discuss the city’s interest in applying for the Community Development Block Grant COVID-19 program for Park Improvements in Ash Park.

The City is proposing to complete a replacement of an existing pavilion and the addition of walkways, benches, trash cans, and more. The total project cost is estimated at $120,000.

TRIVIA NIGHT SCHEDULED TO BENEFIT SCHOLARSHIPS FOR DEXTER COLLEGE STUDENTS

A Trivia Night will be held in February to help fund scholarships for Dexter Three Rivers College students.

The Three Rivers Endowment Trust will hold its Dexter Trivia Night fundraiser on February 17th, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter.

Doors will open for dinner at 5 pm, with trivia starting at 6 pm.

Tables will be $120 for a six-person team and include dinner.

FARMERS INVITED TO APPLY FOR GRANTS TO REDUCE ENERGY COSTS

Missouri farmers have the opportunity to save some money while reducing energy.

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has announced it is offering grants to help agricultural operations reduce energy costs.

The program reimburses agricultural operations up to 75 percent of the purchase cost of qualifying cost-saving energy-efficient equipment and systems - up to $7,500 per applicant.

Examples of eligible projects include solar-powered watering systems and fencers, irrigation upgrades, GPS systems for tractors and applicators, ventilation, and insulation.
