BUTLER COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT WANTS TO HEAR FROM PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL HEALTHCARE NEEDS

If you have, or know someone, with special healthcare needs, the Butler County Health Department would like to hear from you.

The Health Department is working with the Butler County Emergency Management Agency to develop a registry of individuals with Special Healthcare Needs who may require special assistance in the event of a disaster such as a tornado, severe storm, chemical spill, or earthquake.

Some examples of special needs are people with severe respiratory problems, require tube feedings, and physical or mental conditions that require daily medication.

Officials say that the registry is voluntary, and information provided will be confidential and only used by emergency personnel to determine community needs in the event of a disaster.

For more information, contact the Butler County Health Department at 573-785-8478 or go online to ButlerCountyHealth.org.

DEER IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS TESTS POSITIVE FOR CHRONIC WASTING DISEASE

Chronic Wasting Disease has been found in a deer in Northeast Arkansas.

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has confirmed that a hunter-harvested white-tailed deer taken in Randolph County tested positive for chronic wasting disease.

The deer was harvested just south of the Missouri border during the Arkansas modern gun deer hunt.

Officials say that this is the first case of CWD in Randolph County and there will be no changes to deer-hunting regulations for the remainder of the 2021-22 deer hunting season.

AGFC Director Austin Booth says the agency will evaluate the need for any expansion of the CWD Management Zone and regulations concerning deer hunting during the hunting regulations-setting process once the season is over.
