DEXTER MAN IN CUSTODY ON SEXUAL ABUSE CHARGE

A Dexter man has been taken into custody on a sex crime related warrant.

According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 19 year old Brian Smith was recently arrested on a Stoddard County warrant for sexual abuse – 1st degree and sexual misconduct involving a child under the age of 15.

Smith was booked into the Stoddard County Jail and no bond was set. 

FLOOD WARNINGS IN EFFECT FOR PORTION OF SAINT FRANCIS RIVER

A river along the border of Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas is currently under a Flood Warning.

According to the National Weather Service, minor flooding is forecast for the Saint Francis River near Saint Francis, Arkansas.

The river was at 21.9 feet at noon on Sunday and is expected to crest at 22.5 feed this morning. The flood stage is at 22 feet.

Weather officials say the river is expected to fall below the flood stage early Tuesday morning. 

VALENTINES FOR VETERANS CONCERT TO BE HELD IN MID FEBRUARY

The 2022 Valentines for Veterans concert will be held in mid-February.

According to the Wake Foundation, the concert, featuring Diamond Rio with special guests Jackie Smith and Mark Littell, will be held on Friday, February 11th at the Black River Coliseum in Poplar Bluff. Doors will open at 5 pm.

THREE ARRESTED IN WAYNE COUNTY ON METHAMPHETAMINE CHARGES

Three people were arrested on Friday in Wayne County for drug charges.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 57 year old David Ezell, of Patterson, along with 50 year old Douglas Collins and 40 year old Kristian Collins, of Piedmont, were taken into custody at around 3:30 pm Friday.

All three are facing charges of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Following the arrests, all three were held at the Wayne County Jail. 

SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENTS UNDERWAY IN MALDEN

Business Route 25 in Malden will be reduced to one lane with a 10-foot width restriction so contractor crews can improve area sidewalks.

The section of roadway being reduced is located between Route J and West Main Street.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 6 am to 6 pm daily through Tuesday, February 15th.

Officials say that the project is part of the Missouri Department of Transportation’s initiative to bring roadway facilities into compliance with the current standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act. 

DRAINAGE REPAIR PROJECT TO CAUSE DELAYS IN NEW MADRID COUNTY

Route EE in New Madrid County will be reduced to one lane this week as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform drainage repairs.

The section of Route EE being reduced is located from County Road 311 to County Road 314 near Marston.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm daily, through Friday.
